Dead Men Walking Boldly Through the Middle of Things!

Dead Men Walking Kickstarter ProjectsWe’re at the halfway point for the Dead Men Walking Kickstarter duo, and you’ve taken us all the way to tickled pink.*

The Stone and a Hard Place Kickstarter is currently over 600% funded with every stretch goal we’ve put up accomplished with a speed that’d make Stone’s fast draw jealous. If you’re still on that barbed wire fence trying to decide, get on down. Not only does that have to hurt, but backing the Stone and a Hard Place Kickstarter is your best deal and may be the only way to get some of the special backer rewards and stretch goals. Check ‘em out today!

The Cackler Graphic Novel Kickstarter funded, and we’re really close to the special Doomtown promotional card that unlocks at $25,000. And you don’t even have to wait to start reading The Cackler—Visionary is making Cackler previews available right now, with new ones posted fresh today. If you want to see the end, though, you best plan on becoming a backer!

* Sure, thematically, that ought to be “tickled blood red,” but that comes across too creepy for even me.

Dead Men Walking Strong and Steady

Dead Men Walking Kickstarter Projects VideoThings just keep getting better for our Dead Men Walking Kickstarter duo.

The Stone and a Hard Place Kickstarter funded in hours and has blown through eight stretch goals already. You’re knockin’ ‘em down faster than a deadeye shootist at an unfixed carnival! The last one was at $33,000, and we’ve thrown in a poster map of the Weird West for Cochise County and Tombstone, Arizona.

The Cackler Graphic Novel Kickstarter has funded, and there’s a special Doomtown card that unlocks at just $25,000. That’s right, your graphic novel fix comes with a boost to tellin’ your own stories of the Weird West, head-to-head, across the table!

For those of you wondering how you’d be getting your electronic copies of rewards and stretch goals, wonder no more. We’ve got the full skinny on that just a little further down the page.

At the risk of repeating ourselves, thanks again to all of you for your continued support. Without it, we couldn’t be doing one Kickstarter, much less two Kickstarters for a setting you’ve enjoyed for nearly twenty years now. Now that, amigos, is an honor.

Dead Men Walking—Coming from All Sides!

Dead Men Walking KickstartersIf you’ve backed either of our Dead Men Walking Kickstarter projects, then you’ve got it comin’, amigo, and we’re gonna’ give it to you good.

Calm down. You’ll like this. All your electronic files—whether direct backer rewards or stretch goals for either Stone and a Hard Place or The Cackler Graphic Novel—will be available to you directly from the Pinnacle Entertainment Group Web Store, DriveThruRPG, and DriveThruComics. The West is as wide as it is Weird, partner, and we aim to give you what you want where you want it.

And our aim is pretty darned good…

Dead Men Walking Tall and Proud!

Dead Men Walking Kickstarter Projects VideoIt’s been a great week for the launch of our Dead Men Walking Kickstarter duo.

The Stone and a Hard Place Kickstarter funded in hours and has blown through the stretch goals faster than a dead man can fill you full o’ lead! Don’t fret none, though, because Shane’s up to his ol’ tricks and will be putting out a new stretch goal to pique your interest.

The Cackler Graphic Novel Kickstarter is so close to funded I’m tempted to say it is! We’re really excited to see the enthusiasm for one of Deadland’s longest-held stories, and can’t wait to see it brought to life by Visionary’s talented artists.

We’re not the only ones talking about it, either. For more on the Doomtown card from the Cackler Kickster, check out the Gomorra Gazette’s interview with Shane Hensley and Matt Cutter. The Kickstarters have also been mentioned by Gamerati, Flames Rising, and Roll for Crit!

Oh, and there are numbers, too. Kickspy put the Stone and a Hard Place Kickstarter at 19 in the Top 100 Tabletop Game Kickstarters and the Cackler Graphic Novel Kickstarter at number 3 in the Top 100 Graphic Novels Kickstarters, while Kicktraq puts the Cackler Kickstarter at number 9 in their Hot List!

It’s not just your imagination—these Kickstarters really are going very, very well! Thanks again to all of you for your continued support.

Deadlands Cackler Graphic Novel Preview

Cackler Graphic Novel PreviewCan’t wait for the Cackler Graphic Novel any more? Before Curiosity does somethin’ mean to your cat, go check out the Cackler graphic novel preview. The fine folks at Visionary Comics have put the first five pages out now to whet your appetites.

If you get hungry, keep comin’ back. I hear they’re going to put out more pages every Tuesday while the Cackler Graphic Novel Kickstarter project is a-cookin’. Hang with us to the end—there may be some just desserts…

Dead Men Walking…Right Now!

The Dead Men Walking Kickstarter duo has begun! Even now, you should feel the clammy hand of dread stretching your way. Don’t be shy—reach out and give it a shake! Join us for a walk on the dead side as we kick off two very different—but closely linked—projects that start us on the road for the 20th anniversary of Deadlands in 2016!

Stone, an implacable killer with a taste for heroes, is coming full force in the Stone and a Hard Place Kickstarter. Bring all the danger of the third Deadlands Plot Point Campaign to “life” with your support, and get more than you rightly bargained for. That’s right, amigo, Stone and a Hard Place is a sourcebook for the Southwest, detailing strange locales, creepy characters, carnivorous critters, and Setting Rules to highlight Death’s grip on the land. There’s also new material for your favorite Harrowed heroes and any hexslingers you got ridin’ the trail beside you—after all, in a place this hungry for souls, you shouldn’t let anybody ride behind you…. Check it out today!

The Cackler is an ancient Harrowed, walking the earth in undeath since before the age of the Weird West was upon us, and The Cackler graphic novel Kickstarter will let us tell his tale at last! The Cackler seeks a very particular blood relative for a mysterious and nefarious ritual that could change the world of Deadlands forever, a ritual so threatening that the Texas Rangers and the Agency have invoked the Twilight Protocol in a united state against his success. Can Morgan Lash, a former Wichita Witch, save the Cackler’s quarry—who just happens to be her own sister? There’s only one way to know!

See if you can figure out the Cackler’s secret identity before the end of the tale. We’ve been putting out clues for twenty years (with the best ones in The Black Circle for the original Deadlands Classic), but everything you need is retold right in the graphic novel. You’re never too late to the party to be touched by evil!

There are some very limited Kickstarter rewards for select backers for both Stone and a Hard Place and The Cackler graphic novel, so don’t let the weeds sprout under your feet, partner. Check ‘em out as soon as you can!

Dead Men Walking and Dead Man’s Hand Closer Than Ever!

The Cackler Graphic Novel Cover PreviewCan you feel it getting closer? The Dead Men Walking Kickstarter duo starts next week, January 27.

You can sign on for the tale of Death’s favored son, Stone, with the third Deadlands Plot Point Campaign Stone and a Hard Place. You can hitch your wagon to The Cackler graphic novel that will expose Deadlands‘ most infamous villains in a way that changes the world of Deadlands like nothing before it. If you’re mucho enough of an hombre, you can even take both Kickstarters on at once. In the end, though, keep in mind that both Stone and a Hard Place and The Cackler will be coming for you

For more details, be sure to check out our Dead Men Walking Kickstarter info page.

While we’re talking Deadlands and looking ahead, this is the final stretch for preordering your copy of Dead Man’s Hand. Remember, you can print the handy Dead Man’s Hand Preorder Form to get all the information you’ll need to give your local comic retailer. Then you can get the free stuff (including a digital copy of The Kid and a Deadlands Reloaded PDF of your choice) just for mentioning your preorder online—be sure to check the full details.

Be sure to read this week’s Dead Man’s Hand spotlight series with a focus on the dark tale of murder and mayhem from Ron Marz and Bart Sears, Death Was Silent. There’s even a bonus interview with Bart on the upcoming The Cackler graphic novel!

Two-Fisted Deadlands Kickstarter Action Coming Soon!

Dead Men Walking Kickstarter ProjectsStone. An implacable killing machine, the right hand of Death.

The Cackler. A man of mystery and evil, a puzzle two decades in the telling.

Try as we might, there is simply too much danger, too much story, too much excitement—just plain ol’ too much—to combine them. That’s why, on January 27, we’re going to do something a little odd—launch two Kickstarters at the same time! We’re calling it the Dead Men Walking special event, and it’s the beginning of the build-up to the 20th anniversary of Deadlands.

One project will bring you Stone and a Hard Place, the third Plot Point Campaign of the Reckoning of the Weird West of Deadlands. Can you outrun a bullet with your name on it when it’s being shot by the Grim Reaper’s favored son?

The other project will bring you The Cackler graphic novel, telling you a story from the very beginnings of Deadlands, a story you’ve waited nearly twenty years to hear, a story that will fundamentally change the world of Deadlands in a way no other story has.

We’ll tell you more soon, and the actual Kickstarters are only two weeks away. We’ll keep you posted with a Dead Men Walking Kickstarters page, where you’ll be able to find the latest and greatest on these two Kickstarters. Dead Men Walking will be on you before you know it. It’s how they roll…

And while you’re thinking Deadlands, don’t forget about preordering Dead Man’s Hand. Check out this week’s Dead Man’s Hand Round-Up page at Visionary Comics!

Dead Men Walking—Stone and the Cackler Together!

Stone and a Hard Place PreviewWhy pick one Harrowed when you can have two? That’s just crazy talk, partner, and we know it!

The third Deadlands Plot Point Campaign is on its way, featuring everyone’s favorite hero-killer, Stone! But we’re going to bump up the “dead factor” and combine him with the long-awaited tale of the Weird West’s oldest and most mysterious Harrowed—teased since the beginning of Deadlands in 1996—the Cackler!

The dead duo will be coming your way in January in a very special combo Kickstarter. Stone will be the headliner in Stone and a Hard Place, the third Deadlands Plot Point Campaign that details the strange locales and odd characters of the American Southwest, provides enhanced rules for the setting, and brings you face-to-face with more abominations and tribulations than a rational man can survive! But even if you survive this encounter with Stone, can you handle the Cackler? He’ll be coming to you in a brand new graphic novel, written by Shane Hensley and illustrated by comics legend Bart Sears. The Cackler graphic novel will also include an exclusive adventure penned by our own Mighty Matt Cutter and a tale called Dead Men Talking about the day Stone and the Cackler met!

The details for the Stone-and-Cackler Kickstarter will be coming soon, but there’s a few bits we can share right now, with it being the season of giving and all. You won’t have to wait on Stone and a Hard Place—PDF materials will release immediately and the hardback orders will be placed as soon as we have the final Kickstarter numbers! The Cackler graphic novel will ship separately as soon as it’s finished, so you can get both as soon as possible. Oh, and there will be cool extras. Lots of cool extras.

Remember, the Dead Men Walking campaign kicks off our march toward the 20th Anniversary of Deadlands! We’ve got lots of surprises planned, and they all start with the Dead Men Walking Kickstarter. Backers will get more than the usual books and bonuses—we’ll also share some of our changes, updates, and future plans as well. It’s always better to know what’s coming out of the Weird West before it just sneaks up on you, amigo—don’t miss that chance!

This is definitely the Kickstarter to watch for all you Deadlands fans out there!
