Now on Kickstarter, Ghost Ops: An RPG of Covert Operations is a new title from Savage Worlds licensee FeralGames set in the world of Military Special Operations. PCs are members of a Black Ops team made up of international Elite Special Forces Operatives sent out to the worst trouble hotspots in the world.
The game will cover Eastern European crime organizations, South American drug cartels, international terrorist cells, and African warlords to name just a few. In one mission you could be assaulting a tanker in the Indian Ocean and in the next, find yourselves in the jungles of the Congo taking down Guerilla forces.
If you love video games like Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and Call of Duty then this is the tabletop roleplaying game you’ve been waiting for to immerse you in the world of Special Operations.
The Savage Worlds edition of the game will include unique Edges and Hindrances and also new Squad Edges that the whole team benefits from as they grow and work together. Players will choose which international Special Forces unit they came from and gain unique benefits from those. They will then choose their Archetypes, from Assault, to Recon, to Specialist, and so forth. The Savage Worlds book will also have rules for taking your characters into the Savage Worlds Showdown skirmish rules, new vehicle rules, and also rules for canine companions.
Zed or Alive: The Zombie Miniatures Game launched on Kickstarter just a few days ago, and has already met its initial funding goal! This campaign-based miniatures skirmish game is set in the years following a zombie apocalypse and is powered, at its core, by the Savage Worlds: Showdown! miniatures combat system.
This is Rust Devil Games’ first release, and is already ready to be distributed by digital download—no waiting around on this one! Not only are the pledge levels cheap, but the Savage Worlds: Showdown! rules are free from the Savage Worlds downloads links.
If you want to hear all about it, including interviews with the creators, be sure to listen to The Nerd’s Domain: Episode 66. The whole podcast is about the Zed or Alive Kickstarter. [Say, if you’re a journalist, blogger, podcaster, webmaster, news agency, or other creator of content that might feature well here, you should talk to Jodi Black. Nerd’s Domain did…]
Be sure to check out the Zed or Alive Kickstarter for details about backing and about the game itself. Did we mention that you can play as several different kinds of zombies, as humans, or even as a virus strain? That you can play with any minis you’ve got, including different scales? That there are several stretch goals that appear to be in easy reach and come at a remarkably affordable backer level?
Huh. Sounds like you really ought to visit the Zed or Alive Kickstarter instead of counting on this far-too-brief article to cover everything! Heck, they even tackle the “what do you mean another zombie game” question right on the front page, and they’ve even got a good answer!
Modiphius Entertainment and Pinnacle Entertainment Group are excited to announce the upcoming Achtung! Cthulhu: Showdown! game. Launching in spring 2014 with the awesome Achtung! Cthulhu miniatures, Achtung! Cthulhu: Showdown! is a stand-alone miniatures rulebook and full campaign setting—now skirmish players can dive right in to the world of Achtung! Cthulhu.
Think you’re excited? Check out what our own Shane Hensley has to say:
“We’ve been dying to see one of our Savage Worlds licensees do a big, full-blown Showdown miniatures game for some time. Modiphius has truly impressed us with Achtung! Cthulhu, and when we saw the incredible miniatures and terrain for the game Mark Margraf created for it at GenCon 2013, we knew this was something truly special. We can’t wait to get some lead painted and play it ourselves!”
So if you’re as interested in a game with all the rules and setting information you need for a campaign following Charlie Company through the Forest of Fear, if you want play out the Secret War with typical World War Two troops and Mythos creatures, or if you just want to know more about it, be sure to check out the full details on the Modiphius site today!
The Wild Card Creator Kickstarter campaign is going very well.
