Origins Game Fair is this week, and we’d love to see you there!
Evil Mike and Chaos Steve will running games throughout the day, generally in the Marion room. Drop on by to say hi, play a game, or just see the wonder twins live. [Yes, folks, you’ll wonder that they’re actually live…]
Joel Kinstle will be there, too. If you’ve got questions about nearly anything (other than “when is so-and-thus” coming out), he’ll probably give you a longer answer than you want! [He/I can also discuss how odd it is to type about yourself in the third person.]
There are over 60 Savage Worlds games running through the convention, so there should be something to tickle your fancy. If you’re running one of those games, you should’ve received a link to the 2013 GM pack. If not, contact Mike and Steve as soon as you can.
Our fulfillment partners will have all our physical product available at the Studio 2 Publishing booth. This is your chance to go through our warehouse-away-from-the-warehouse and buy like crazy with “free shipping.”
Are you a Savage Worlds GM? Are you going to Origins or Gen Con this year? Then we’ve got a deal for you!
As we mentioned last week, we’re focusing on getting more Savage Worlds games in the event lists for both Origins and Gen Con. We want everyone who wants to play Savage Worlds to have a great chance of finding a game. With that in mind, we’ve got a deal for GMs!
Anyone who registers to run three standard four-hour* Savage Worlds events at Origins or Gen Con will receive a Savage Worlds 2013 GM Event Pack filled with goodies. Our only requirement is that your games must be submitted to the convention in time to get them in the book or be available when registration opens.
Before the convention, you get:
- Three One Sheet adventures complete with characters, figure flats, and maps. Each One Sheet is suitable for beginning players on up. This adventure pack will be made available for you to download from Pinnacle prior to the conventions, and brief descriptions are included below.
- A bonus One Sheet set for the upcoming Degrees of Horror setting from our friends at 12 to Midnight.
At the Convention (pick it up at the Studio 2 booth), you get:
- A special “10 Year Anniversary of Savage Worlds” full color print, signed by the Pinnacle crew.
- An exclusive t-shirt that proclaims you were a Savage GM in 2013.
- Our undying thanks!
What should you run? Well, that’s up to you! You can run the One Sheets we provide or run any setting or homebrew you want as long as it uses the Savage Worlds rule set. Games appropriate for new players are preferred, but not required.
How do you sign up? Simple. Once you register your games for either convention, send us your event information. All we need is the event title, the event ID (you won’t have this for Origins), and the date and time for each event. Please include your t-shirt size as well.
We’re looking forward to having a ton of Savage Worlds games available this year at Origins and Gen Con. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
One Sheet Descriptions (suitable for copy-paste event submissions!)
- Crypt of the Scaled Ones
The Duke won the Low Countries in hard-fought battle. The locals avoided the ancient swamps he inherited, and especially the strange and forgotten temple deep in its black heart. Now the Duke wants it cleared and whatever threats found within destroyed. Your party can keep whatever treasures are found within–but you may not refuse your lord’s orders.
- Death Worm
The crew of the Odyssey are part of a scientific expedition assisting Dr. Mars who is intent on verifying the existence of and capturing an Omariss Death Worm. The worm is said to inhabit Omariss III, a planet with a hostile arid environment. Little does the crew know that what they discover on Omariss III could save the lives of millions. Or cost them their own.
- Old Todd Passage
Your posse is an advance group from a wagon train heading to Portland, when they find a hauntingly empty homestead in a mountain pass called the Old Todd Passage.
- Degrees of Horror—Sorority Secret
Luke is a guy who has everything going for him—good looks, good grades at ETU, and you as his friends! That makes his abrupt disappearance all the more perplexing. You’ve been following his last known whereabouts and the trail goes cold at a prestigious sorority house on Pinebox’s “Greek Row”. Is there a reasonable explanation, or is the truth more sinister?

As most of you know, Savage Saturday Night has been outrageously successful at both Origins and Gen Con—maybe a trifle too successful. This year we’ll be taking a break from Savage Saturday Nights at Origins and Gen Con to concentrate on making more Savage Worlds games available throughout both conventions.
Savage Saturday Nights have been amazing, and we’ve been thrilled with the turnout and participation. But at conventions like Origins and Gen Con, they just don’t fit well into the scheduling and planning systems. One of the drives behind Savage Saturday Nights has been to make sure folks who want to play (or try) Savage Worlds get the chance, especially since games tend to fill up in the first few hours of registration at these conventions. The popularity of Savage Saturday Night at these two shows, though, collapsed most of the Savage Worlds games together into one slot on Saturday night, which is just too limited to get more people into more Savage games.
This year, we’ll be working with the scheduling systems to get more Savage Worlds games every day so more people have the opportunity to play and the enjoy themselves, or to try out the system for their very first time.
You’ll be seeing more information about that in the coming days. If you’re a Savage Worlds GM, we’ll have some exciting news for you. If you’re a Savage Worlds player, we think you’ll be pleased as well.
It’s the season of conventions, and your chance of spotting a member of the Pinnacle staff out in the wild are way up!
If you’re not going to be quite as northerly, drop by ConCarolinas (June 1-3) for a chance to see Clint Black and Joel Kinstle, as well as our good friend, frequent Pinnacle editor, and (in at least one case) wife, Jodi Black.
Check the convention program for games and panels, and be sure to say “hi.” We’re always happy to meet a fan!
