Five years ago, the Wild Card Creator, from Will Herrmann (published through his company, Journeyman Games), popped up on Kickstarter promising a new, easy, and intuitive program to quickly and easily generate Savage Worlds characters. The Wild Card Creator went on to become one of the most popular, must-have Savage Worlds accessories, eventually getting nominated for an ENnie Award in the category of Best Software. Today, Will continues to improve and expand the program for use with Pinnacle’s entire lineup as well as games and settings from 25 other licensees.
Plug in some basic info and output sleek-looking, form-fillable character sheets for most of your favorite games. You’ll be the envy of your game table. The Wild Card Creator is also completely modular to let you add your own races, skills, Edges, Hindrances, and more.

Wild Card Creator from Journeyman Games just got an update. They’ve added auto-downloading of future updates so you can let it keep itself current if you want, and there are several improvements for homebrew settings.
But that’s not all! They’ve also added support for our very own 50 Fathoms, GRAmel’s Beasts & Barbarians, and improved support for Gun Metal Games’ Interface Zero 2.0. Just give the app your PDF for any of these settings—or over a dozen others—and you’ll be able to make characters using the new Edges, Hindrances, gear, and everything else from these settings.
And stay tuned! Wild Card Creator will be adding support for the Science Fiction Companion and the Super Powers Companion (Second Edition) by the end of June!
Wild Card Creator—the Savage Worlds character creation utility that supports all your PDFs—has just released a significant update. Oh, sure, it has new options for auto-downloading updates, support for optional rules in published settings, and even more program settings for you to have more control. But for me the excitement is all about the expanded homebrew support.
A big part of the Savage Worlds mindset is that each setting will have little tweaks to the core rules to really bring that genre to life. We expect you to be using your own house rules, and Wild Card Creator is there to support you. Have campaign rules that apply to everyone? They’ve got you covered. Have a new Edge or Hindrance? No problem. Did you customize the way something works for one particular character alone? Good for you—and that’s supported!
Don’t just listen to me ramble on, check out Wild Card Creator and the latest update today!
[So, I misread something and claimed that Wild Card Creator now supports the recently released Science Fiction Companion and Super Powers Companion (Second Edition). I was wrong. They tell me it’s coming soon, but isn’t there now. I apologize for any confusion I’ve cause about that.—Joel]
