I'd like to reserve Location 2 if it's available...
2. The Celestial Spires -- headquarters of a group of Arcane inventors who have close ties to Sir Hensley.
...and has anyone noticed the street names yet?

Hi all,
I've been out of this project for a while, pursueing other projects instead.
Now with my "other project" safely on the pages of SharkBytes, I'd like to come back to my earlier idea and write something about the Sheriff, and City Watch.
For this purpose, I ask for a piece of advice:
Judging from the size of the City (and the fact that even the Main Gate is only protected by 7 men), what do you think how much manpower would be dedicated to keeping the peace, and upholding the law in town? _________________ Please Click: |

Regarding free locations, just let me know which one you want, and I'll reserve it if its free or suggest an alternative based upon the type/size of building you want.

COOOOL!!! I've got a limited edition!
You think it gets worth even more if I get it autographed? _________________ Please Click: |

Could I get a small group of the smaller huts? I was thinking that a "slum lord" might make for an interesting addition to the city, in D&D terms give them a "neutral" enemy rather than an outright evil menance to face... _________________ Life: Past trends are not an indication of future performance |

Sure...I had intended for the Parlour to be outside the city limits, up in the mountains, but I can see the necessity of putting it on the map. _________________ Proud Savagepedia contributor.

House 11 belongs to the Pertls. While I got the Market Square, the ownership of the building somehow did not get communicated. Probably my fault, because I did not describe the house itself, only the inhabitants. _________________ tartex - Minion of Kitchensink

Regarding the size of the City, it was pointed out some time ago that the map could not be a physical representation of all the buildings in the place as it would be far too small if that were the case. We need to think of the map as being reprersentative and the numbered buildings as being noted places of interest, with lots of other non-descript structures, hovels, alleys and suchlike populating the spaces between.
As to the gate guard, they might have a squad or two they could call upon in case of trouble, and the gates would certainly be reinforced with manpower in times of unrest in the area. Go with whatever size you feel would be fun. I would guess that the main force of soldiery would be garrisoned at the Castle (any takers for the Castle and its dungeons by the way?), but there should be a gaol, courthouse, city watch barracks or two and office of the Sherrif somewhere in the City... |

Great idea. Suggest a set of building numbers and I will allocate them to you. |

40 (for the slum lord) through to 47 look to be in a good position. I reckon a little fun could be had having an adventure looking for the missing inhabitants from this area... _________________ Life: Past trends are not an indication of future performance |

I'd like to place the Sheriff's Office in building #82.
This will include:
- Office and personal residence of the sheriff (and family)
- Jail (used mainly for drunken brawlers to sober up in - anyone accused of an actual crime will be tranferred to the courthouse jail -or directly to the castle dungeon- as quickly as possible)
- Barracks that can hold up to 20 guardsmen (although there are at present only 8 guardsmen stationed there). _________________ Please Click: |

A short question I stumbled over while assembling some background info for my submission:
How old is this City?
Grubman's original City History only states that Sir Hensley buit his castle on top of the ancient ruins, and the town developed around the castle quite quickly.
But how long ago did this happen?
How much history does this city have to look back upon?
10 years? 25? 40?
There's a lot of further questions linked to this one:
How old is Sir Hensley? Is he still a mighty warrior, and formidable foe for anyone foolish enough to attack his realm? Or is he an old man, barely able to get up from his throne without assistance?
How old can a character be, if he's supposed to be born in the city?
Are most of the city's businesses still run by their original founders, or have many of them already been handed over to a second (or third) generation? _________________ Please Click: |
