The world as we know it is...different.
In 1898, Martian invaders raided the Earth in the "War of the Worlds". The war only lasted a few weeks before a common terran germ laid the Martians low and forced them to abandon their invasion, but it left behind massive destruction...
Now, 38 years after the war, we see the effect on history. Anachronistic high-tech devices like anti-grav aeroships ply the skies, carrying Tommy Dorsey and his Orchestra to their next radio gig. Jack Garner, Franklin Delano Roosevelt's vice president, became president in 1932 after Roosevelt's assassination. Prohibition is still the law of the land in America. Al Capone and his mob rule the streets of Chicago with an iron fist...
Howard Carter found King Tut's tomb, but had to defeat its undead guardians to uncover the riches within. In bitter Germany the enigmatic Thule Society, empowered by newly awakened occult magics, gained wealth and notoriety in the late 1920s sweeping their leader Adolph Hitler to power as chancellor in 1930. Near Berlin, Hitler is constructing the futuristic city known as Germania, a city he hopes will not only become a fascist utopia, but also the seat of his power once his plans for world domination are complete. In far-flung areas of the globe, hideous cults have risen to power and relentlessly search for Artifacts of Power from antiquity that although once dormant, are now bursting with true arcane energy. Aleister Crowley, the English occultist and black magician, leads the Golden Dawn Society, a cadre of real warlocks. In Egypt the Cult of Anubis, an evil sect dedicated to the Egyptian God of the Dead, has resurfaced...
Interested? Good!
The Ravaged Earth Society (tm) is a campaign setting for the Savage Worlds roleplaying game that enables players to adventure in the guise of a classic pulp hero in an alternate-history 1936. The game is best described as a "Weird Pulp Fantasy", featuring heroes in the vein of Indiana Jones, Doc Savage, Mandrake the Magician, The Shadow, and Flash Gordon. You will need the Savage Worlds roleplaying rules from Great White Games and nerves of steel to play!
You'll hear more later next week.
The Ravaged Earth Society is a trademark of Double G Press

Perhaps same said author is now under my hypnotic spell and is tasked with producing an endless array of Savage Worlds material in my name.
Didya ever think of that? |

THIS JUST IN!
In his airplane, the Spirit of St. Louis, Lindbergh left Long Island bound for Paris. He never made it. The crew of a fishing vessel found the wreckage of his plane floating in the Atlantic Ocean a few days later. Among the possessions the crew fished from the ocean was his diary. Before he vanished, “Unlucky Lindy”, as he came to be known, recorded an encounter with a strange winged apparition he called a demon, describing it as 20 feet long with a goat-like head and giant bat wings. The creature attacked the airplane, clawing at the wings with black talons. Nothing more was recorded, but the diary brought the seriousness of supernatural threats to the attention of the international community. |

WE'VE JUST RECEIVED WORD!
The Institutional Revolutionary Party has ruled Mexico since 1929 and has crushed almost all forms of opposition. Besides some moderate improvements in industry and agriculture, most Mexicans are unemployed or work as manual laborers in factories or farms.
What worries many isn’t the corrupt government: it’s the rise in cult activity. Some Mexicans are probing deeply into the country’s Aztec past, with frightening results. A few years ago, a wealthy businessman and amateur archeologist named Rodrigo Batista revived interest in ancient Aztec culture after exploring the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacán, just north of Mexico City. Batista changed his name to Chicome Ocelotl, or Seven Jaguar, and opened a “tourist center” at the old Aztec city.
Seven Jaguar attracted hundreds of followers, mostly natives who feel empowered by these ancestral beliefs and culture. What Seven Jaguar, or Batista, or whatever he calls himself these days hasn’t shared are reports of human sacrifices atop the Pyramid of the Sun, or the long processions along the Avenue of the Dead. |

You're torturing me with these tiny little hints! I must know more right now! This sounds like the savage setting i've been waiting for. I really hope this is going to be a big fat pdf with lots of setting stuff and a full set of plot points and savage tales. And I really hope it's not coming out some time in the distant future - cause i don't think i can wait....

Don't encourage him. All time he spends gloating is time he doesn't spend editing the next Shark Bytes. _________________ Old Patch

Dear JB,
I've been looking for a good PUlp rule system/setting for some time, and this looks like it! Can you answer a few questions for me?
(1) When is this new setting due out?
(2) Who is publishing it?
(3) I believe from what I have read of Savage Worlds that it uses something called Plot Points. Will your new setting contain these?
Many thanks, _________________ Pulp Hero |

You'll just have to wait until tomorrow ... but until then:
Egyptian culture is 6,000 years old. The early dynasties and kingdoms created some pretty interesting mythology. I’m told that someone is trying to bring back that “old time religion”—and I’m not talking about Protestant tent revivals. I’m talking about the religious cults of ancient Egypt!
Something called the Cult of Anubis— Anubis was the Egyptian jackal-headed god of the underworld, who escorted the souls to be judged—is sweeping through the desert, gaining followers, and performing dark rituals designed to appease a long-forgotten god. Many who run afoul of the cult are ritualistically murdered before ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics are carved into their corpses.
The Cult of Anubis isn’t exclusively an Egyptian phenomenon; chapters have sprung up in London, with the group channeling power from Cleopatra’s Needle, a large Egyptian obelisk located on the banks of the Thames. There may even by a chapter in New York City, an occurrence that wouldn’t surprise me at all.
The leader of the Cult of Anubis is a man named Lord Amonthep. He apparently bribed the Egyptian government into buying the Temple of Amun at Karnak. Lord Amonthep restored the temple to the way it looked in ancient times, and his hundreds of followers live and worship there. Nobody has gotten close to the temple and returned unscathed. Usually Lord Amonthep converts the curious to his cult with a powerful ritual. I’d like to know what this solitary creep is up to, especially if his cult is setting up shop in America. |
