Should the Inner Strength edge in the Rippers Companion stack with Elan?
Yes. They are different enough.

No. The limitation is rarely encountered, so the Ripper would almost always get the stacked benefit.

No. Setting Rules trump Core Rules, so Inner Strength replaces Elan.

Yes, but only if the effects of Inner Strength are changed to what Clint suggested. ;)

Inner Strength is quite similar to Elan, in requirements and effects, but only applies when fighting a supernatural creature.
Should the Inner Strength edge in the Rippers Companion stack with Elan?
Part of me says yes, since the effects of Inner Strength are limited in scope, but part of me says no, because the Rippers are almost always fighting supernatural creatures, to that limitation rarely comes into play.
Yet another part of me says that since setting rules always trump core rules, the Inner Strength Edge takes the place of Elan, so Elan is disallowed in the setting.

Elan is a combat edge.
My decision would be a matter of campaign tone. Only one of them? Heroic but limited. Both of them? Over-the-top at many times. Neither of them? You who are about to die can salute me. _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

And I can't edit the poll to remove the invalid choice. Arg. _________________ 'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.

Wouldn't really matter, the only Edges that don't stack are Professional Edges; it doesn't apply to any other types of Edges.
Inner Strength will likely change or be tweaked or replace Elan or something in the reprint.
For now, I'd suggest using both but change the effect of Inner Strength so it lets the character use their Spirit die type for their Wild Die on the reroll. _________________ Clint Black

Wow...that would give one of my players a d10 wild die. _________________ TIGER, tiger, burning bright

Only on re-rolls after spending a Benny, and only against supernatural creatures. _________________ 'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.

Gah! That's what I get for writing up a rules question without double-checking the rules first! _________________ 'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
