|
|
These are some shots of the Savage Worlds Mashup I ran a few days ago. Aliens VS Star Wars Clone Troopers. The Aliens minis are re-based Horrorclix, the Clone Troopers are from the Star Wars mini game, I made the Facehuggers from Green Stuff and the Space Station maps are from Ki Ryn Studios (its called Future Armada: Vanguard Station) bought on RPGNow.com and glued on some black boards I have.
The idea came from a buddy of mine, Mike Whiteman from ABGames, they are a group of friends that run games at all the major cons. He ran a game very similar to this at Gencon this year. He had us play Stormtroopers investigating a disappearance of miners on a planet on the outer rim and of course it was infested with Aliens. I changed my game to Clone Troopers (set during the Clone Wars). They were being sent to a space station on the edge of the galaxy to infiltrate it, gather information about a "Secret Weapon" that the Separatists were making out there and then destroy the station. (I've been watching a lot of Clone Wars lately!)
It was my Halloween one-shot game that took a break from our regularly scheduled Savage Worlds Star Wars game. The players figured out what the secret weapon was when they put all the clues together, slaves being brought there but no slaves were found onboard, evidence of some sort of acid eating through flooring panels and once I threw down the Facehugger mini they new. But by that time the Aliens started coming out of the walls!
It was pretty fun. All the NPC's were killed and then my dice rolling turned south and it seemed all I rolled was 3's and 4's the rest of the night (I roll in front of my players.) I'm thinking about tightening up the adventure some, adding in the Alien Queen and run it at Gencon next year.
This was A Special ops Clone Trooper trying to escape the Alines below only to be surround by Facehuggers! His secret mission was to bring one of these creatures back to Palapatine. He ended up setting his blasters to stun and stunned one, he then grabbed it and every so often kept stunning it...pretty funny.
The circle he is standing on is the "spine" or shaft of the space station, it goes from the top of the station to the bottom. It has a zero gravity field in it so you kinda use hand holds and float from one level to another at 1/2 move.
This was an end scene of the remaining Troopers trying to get to their shuttle before the detonation pack that they put on the power core blows. Of course they had to repair the ship from the damage they took from arriving and had to fend off rounds and rounds of Aliens. The red chip means that someone is Shaken.
Just another shot of the Troopers fighting some Aliens.
The Troopers trying to set the bomb to blow the station as they are attacked by Aliens.
An Alien killing off a Clone Trooper grunt NPC.
Some closeups of the Aliens and Facehuggers

I've seen them at various gaming stores, like Game Daze.

No, the Clones won! Although they took out the 4 NPC's. They got the info from the computers and blew up the space station as their mission required and made it out alive. They had some good tactics and I was rolling really bad. I had a good time with the game.

I got my cards at Target and ToyRus. They are some cool looking 3D cards.

Yeah what Cryonic said RPGnow.com here's the link...

I highly recommend their maps...really great product and cheap. They look awesome on the table.
Nothing but questions!!!

Thanks it was fun to do. I've seen online a few other people rebase those Aliens and it looked easy enough. _________________ -DHRDawg

Thanks. Yeah I like me some minis and maps too. My next step is to rebase the Alien Queen and use her in a game! _________________ -DHRDawg

That is fantastic!! Love the minis and maps. Great scenario.
I've been wanting to do a Doom III/Space Marines/Dead Space mash-up for a long time and this gives me new inspiration.
I just quickly checked ebay and those Aliens Horrorclix minis are expensive! I thought the Heroclix stuff was usually fairly easy to get. Any suggestions on where to get them? _________________ Chris (aka GlassJaw) |

Yeah they are pretty expensive.
There are 3 AVP action packs Horrorclix made...1 with all Aliens, 1 with all Predators and 1 with the Queen, 1 Alien and 1 Predator all in one pack.
I bought the Queen pack at Gencon this past year for like $10 or $12 or something like that, you can buy that one here...
http://www.miniaturemarket.com/horror-queen.html
You could buy multiples of those for the Alien and Predator in there...I dunno.
I bought my Alien pack at my local comic book/game store. I lucked out. They had 1 and I jumped on it.
I still want to get my hands on a Predator pack but man they are expensive. _________________ -DHRDawg

I bought my sets from FRP games several years ago. Around 2008, I think. I have not rebased them, but I really like what you did with their bases. I like your facehuggers, too. _________________ Sorry for type-os. I am freaking blind in one eye and completely blind in the other.

Dawg, did you use any special Savage Worlds rule sources for statting things out? How did you stat the Aliens? _________________ Chris (aka GlassJaw) |

I'd like to see how the Clones would fare against some Predators. _________________

Who's version of Savage Star Wars are you using? Or is it one you've made up on your own? _________________

Maine is right they are those Wizards collectible Star Wars Minis. You can buy them pretty cheap. Those Clones were from some bargain bin 5 for $3 or something like that. They are a little smaller than the Aliens Horrorclix but no one seemed to care. _________________ -DHRDawg

Oh yeah! That would be cool! With those rules on Savage Heroes you could do that!
http://www.savageheroes.com/conversions/SWAVPv1.3.pdf
I used these rules for a modern day one-shot of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen vs a Predator. It went pretty cool. The Predator by those stats is tough, but the group had fun fighting it. _________________ -DHRDawg

HERE you go! These facehuggers look awesome. Since you made the tentacle beastie you should find this easy stuff.
I got 12 Aliens (counting the Queen) and 4 Predators. I ran my sons and friends through an Alien infestation game (this was before I got into the Savage Worlds and Showdown rules). The Predators showed up to clean up the Aliens. The boys played the police department force, a special team of heavily armed Hazmat troops to contain the Alien outbreak, and a special elite unit looking for the Predators (to try to get their technology).
End result... they burned down the town (by accident) and only one miniature escaped the Predator explosive device. Lots of fun.
I coated my Aliens with a glossy acrylic to make them look more slimy and repulsive. _________________
