I have been working on a world setting for quite a few years. I started with ad&d2 and finally got the balance right but found it too cumbersome for easy gameplay. especially with the gritty anime flavor and the large guns vs. powered shields. humans are the base characters with cyborgs, mutants and bio-engineered vampires. (super soldier virus with bad side effects) I am trying to convert to swex. I am currently working on monsters in the abandoned lower sections of the mega city. I am trying to figure out how to make a carnivorous vine that paralyzes and digests animals (or People). I have decided to start a group as a band of freelancer wannabes exploring the lower reaches for salvage and meat/hides to sell on the black market. any suggestions on a carnivorous vine?

Does the vine move around or simply wait for fools to get to close?

For the mobile version, I'd probably use Troll stats, but reduce the pace, give them a grab-and-eat ability similar to the Bear, Large, and a paralyzing touch (like the ghouls). Or maybe just use the Bear, Large, but with a lower pace, some reach, and the paralyzing touch.

If it's mostly stationary then I'd make it more of a trap to be avoided, or killed.

Or you can just use the Bloodwire from Deadlands: Reloaded.

make it a trap with the Entangle power for paralyzation.

Sounds intersting.

Cyborgs could be handled several ways there plenty of posts and ideas floating about the forum. I personally prefer the gear approach.

The vine could be several things

If mobile i would suggest may using the zombie stats to represent its "hunters/creepers" and if wounded the target must make a vigor check or gain a level of fatigue, if incaped they are dragged off to the main plant to be devoured think thorian creeper from the first mass effect.

if the plant is more stationary give it tentacles and maybe a pharamone attack

Thanks for the input. I went with troll stats and a vig roll if wounded to see if they are paralyzed. I like the shield ideas too. I am currently working on a gun list and an item list. guns are going to span about 400 years with the hi tech being scarce and others being out of stock on a d6 roll. It will be a fringe black market selling anything they can find or liberate from a corp..
