Take up arms as a Roman Legionary in Mystical Throne Entertainment's newest Ultimate Guide sourcebook for Savage Worlds. Written by military historian Christopher J.N. Banks, Ultimate Roman Legions Guide details the Roman Legions of Ancient Rome during the Principate for incorporation into your games, whether they be historical, historical fantasy, or fantasy.

Few words conjure up as much grandeur and splendor as the Roman Legions. For 900 years they marched across Europe, Africa, and Asia, laying low any opposition set before them and adding vast swaths of new lands to the Republic and later the Empire. They performed this miraculous chore through superior arms and armor, remarkable training and discipline, and a tradition of unparalleled organization and pedigree.
Ultimate Roman Legions Guide is a catalog of tools of the trade utilized by the Roman Army. The legions underwent drastic changes over the years moving from seasonal, offensive citizen soldiers, to professional, garrisoned warriors; from infantry based cores to cavalry-heavy mobile units. As the scope of all the drastic changes are quite abundant, this guide focuses on the armies of the Late Republic and Early Empire, roughly from 27 BCE to 284 CE, commonly known as the Principate.
Ultimate Roman Legions Guide includes:
Historical equipment utilized by the Roman Legions
A look at the structure of the Roman Legions
A listing of Roman Emperors
A comprehensive timeline of Roman battles during the Principate
New Character Options for making a Legionary
Savage Tales
… and more!
Ultimate Roman Legions Guide is your source for building Legionaries like those of history, or building the foundations of a historical or alternate history game set during the Principate. _________________ http://mysticalthrone-ent.com/ | http://roleplayerschronicle.com/ | http://www.facebook.com/RoleplayersChronicle | http://www.facebook.com/SavageInsider |

Thanks, just grabbed this and am looking forward to reading through it. Huge Roman History buff here.
I recently read Caesar's Legion by Stephen Dando-Collins which is an amazing insight into not only the military effectiveness of the Roman legion but also into their day-to-day lives.
Needless to say I am have been mulling over a short campaign based on the Roman military. This should help greatly! |

I think I'll pick this up when my life slows down enough to actually spend some time on my home computer. I'm hoping that Weird War Rome is still on track to come out soon, and it might be useful to have from this book some more mundane savage tales to put into the mix of a WW Rome campaign. _________________ When a man lies, he murders some part of the world |

This is the first Ultimate Guide of hopefully many that focuses on major historical military organizations, from military historian Christopher J.N. Banks (a friend of mine for over 20 years), author of Echoes of Rome. Our next Ultimate Guide like this (as the Ultimate Guide series will introduce many different sourcebooks) will focus on the Warring States period of Ancient China.
I'm a big fan of these Ultimate Guides series as they present some great mechanics that can be applied abroad as they are not setting specific. Plus they're a lot of fun to write or read.
Thanks everyone for the great feedback!! _________________ http://mysticalthrone-ent.com/ | http://roleplayerschronicle.com/ | http://www.facebook.com/RoleplayersChronicle | http://www.facebook.com/SavageInsider |
