|
|
A buddy of mine and I have gotten excited about Showdown but we are scratching our heads trying to find material beyond the rules PDF.
We located the spreadsheet of information, at really there is such a lack of info in it we're surprised. As we read everything it is billed as a way to make squads and armies but, there are so few individual characters, units etc.
We found the unofficial PDF on how everything is figured, and have begun really beefing up the original spreadsheet to have you input a SW character and calculate its point cost etc.
What my friend and I are wondering is, has anyone actually built a spreadsheet which makes these calculations... and maybe helps you build an army.

It's not a spreadsheet and it's not available yet, but one of the stretch goals that was reached for the Wild Card Creator Kickstarter was added functionality for creating Savage Showdown armies. It will be added in a free update after Wild Card Creator is released, which will be a little while (although the first beta for Wild Card Creator will be out in a few days to testers). _________________ Wild Card Creator: Any PDF. The troop builder spreadsheet was meant more as a guideline than a hard-and-fast tool. You can tool around with it to get a good ballpark for most models, but it's likely to also take some tweaking to get everything to exactly where it feels right to you.
Basically, it's a starting point, not a destination. _________________ John Goff |

Thanks y'all.. I missed the kickststarter... then again I already had Hero Lab SW purchased so I'm not sure I would have jumped on it.
I've seen some errors in the spreadsheet, as far as stats go.. first one was "alligator" which has d8 in spreadsheet but d6 in book... If I'm remembering right.
I've been having some fun doing my own using the PDF telling how things were computed, and data for skills, powers etc in the original spreadsheet.
So now I have two spreadsheets... one for figuring out point cost of anything made in SW... and then those characters put into an army building spreadsheet as a vlookup table. _________________ Al B.

You can still pledge via PayPal till it's released
As I recall, there were other errors in the official spreadsheet too, like the whole Hindrances list missing. Hopefully we'll have an updated sheet at some point. _________________ Wild Card Creator: Any PDF. Any Setting. No Extra Cost.

So, you're saying the free product doesn't have enough free support? Huh.

Joel - I'd willingly pay for more Showdown products.
I kinda think about Showdown as a sorta "gateway drug" for Savage Worlds. It's a great, flexible set of miniatures rules that I've used to introduce many folks to the greater glory of Savage Worlds. decided to look into this myself after deciding on using SW as our go to system... but where are the values for everything?
I'm guessing we have to use the spreadsheet?
does someone have it laid out in a text file someplace? |

I'd like to see some fill-in unit cards where you can put in the attributes, edges, hindrances, and a picture of the critter. _________________

This Sir is a most excellent Web application and I have found it a great way to create units and wild cards for some Combat Hex Lord of the Rings figures that we use to play showdown with.
Would anyone be interested in the units and where should I post such a thing?

Wild Dude,
This would be a good place to post them. I, for one, would be interested in seeing what you have come up with. |
