Hey everyone, just picked up the 50 Fathoms book after around two years of interest. I am on lunch break at work and don't have my book so some of the names escape me but I hope to get my question across.

[SPOILERS]

After the Company/Guild battle the book says that if the Company wins then Kierra will take over all of Caridbus. But what if the PCs have already changed out the Emperor's opium with the poison? Will there be too much strife inside the empire to strike across the Flotsam Sea?

That would be up to you. Personally rather than Kierra conquer I would just plague the world with Kierran raiders trying to collect loot and resources for dozens of warlords all struggling to become the new emperor each selling letters of Marquee and refusing to acknowledge other letters of Marquee.. Kierra would represent a persistent threat made extra daunting by it's lack of a central authority.

But you can choose to do something different entirely.

Ooh, I like the idea of removing some of the pirates from the Pirate Sea and putting in Kierran "Raiders" following a similar warlord style to Deikiing, perhaps the Kierran lords were inspired by their society?

Actually the text says that Keira stays neutral until it looks like one side is going to win for sure, then joins in with that side, so that they were 'with' the winners.

That, and get to loot whichever city is the base of the losing side.

Granted, it's a cool idea to have the Keiran Guild then muscle in on the presumably weakened 'winning side' whether it be the Spaniards or the BEIC, but it doesn't say that the Keirans take over the world explicitly in the text.
