Hi Everyone,
At Serf Productions, we've been hard at work getting our latest product out the door: Savage Outfitter. Savage Outfitter is a "Digital Tools Platform" that will provide a variety of solutions for Savage Worlds players everywhere, including character generation tools and asset management (for published/custom hindrances, edges, gear, etc...). Savage Outfitter runs in the Cloud giving you access to your data in your browser, mobile phone, or tablet. And since the software itself is FREE, there's no reason not to check it out.
Sign up with your e-mail address now and get 20% OFF the Savage Worlds Core Rules Module! Offer ends when the service goes live.
Thanks. _________________ David Patrick

I'm curious to know how you are handeling character sheets, once a character is created. How customizable will they be? _________________ My delusions of grandeur are way bigger than yours! |

@MightyCthulu Sorry for not seeing your post earlier. I was expecting an e-mail from the system whenever someone replied. When you tried to sign up, our Cloud Host was upgrading a variety of things, which caused our database to go down. We got it back up again as quickly as we could, sorry that you had to see the error message. If things don't stabilize with our current provider, we will move to another to prevent errors like this from happening again. Thank you very much for posting here raising the issue.
@OtherMike First, let's talk about our process. I've been meaning to hold off talking about this until we had more to report on our end (big milestones and the like); but since you brought up features, let's go into it. At Serf Productions, we very much believe in the idea of "Release early, release often". We consider the website that you've been looking at to be the first release, from which we've been learning a lot about our potential users. Each subsequent release will provide more and more features.
Regarding physical character sheets, we are planning on users being able to print to a variety of templates, but this feature is further down the road. If you're looking for character sheet "skinning" for the apps, that's something else that we thought of, but will be coming later. Otherwise, we will be doing our best to make the character sheet portion of the app as useful as possible, giving user quick access for tracking shaken status, wounds, fatigue, and power points.
Characters will be very customizable once they've been created. You'll be able to advance them as they gain experience; or even completely redo something that you've done in the past. Later on, we'll have more social features allowing GMs to approve characters, advancements, and changes to prior choices. Like anything else this will be something for the group to decide how they handle things. Savage Outfitter is just a tool meant to facilitate Savage Worlds play. It should never get in the way of what the group wants to accomplish. (If it ever does, it's a bug let us know and we'll fix it) _________________ David Patrick

Thanks for the reply.

That's a philosophy I like.
As to why I asked. My primary reason for using something like this would be to create and manage characters for Con games. As such, I would need the ability to print out nice character sheets for the players.
Secondary usage would probably be what you are designing this for. Creating and managing my own characters. Still a physical character sheet is important, because I don't always have access to "the cloud."

I find this intriguing as well. At the minimum, it would be very nice if I, as a GM, could look at the player characters whenever I needed to. Of course, sharing customized templates (or what every they are called) for creating characters for a custom setting, would be most useful for a GM as well.
Again, thanks ... and good luck with this endeavor. _________________ My delusions of grandeur are way bigger than yours! |
