My current character Tala has been put on hold (she got "teleported" or "sidestepped" somewhere), and my marshal has asked me to make a new character for the time being. So I've decided to make a martial artist. A class I haven't played yet in Deadlands classic.

Some key features will be: performance acting, persuade, streetwise, guts, chi, bow, fighting MMA, fighting chinese sword and sneak.

He has a black joker (been thinking of a cursed Chinese sword or something if ok with my marshal) , and might take veteran o the west.

James is an orphan "whiteboy" that grew up as a thief for the triads in Shan Fan. He had an aptitude for something more, so the Triads trained him to become one of their "white" assassins.

Teaser intro: Even tho I've used their real names in the intro below, its actually their secret identity that is in use. No one knows their real names (except maybe the higher ups in the triads.) The intro here is written from Lin-Ren's perspective, to give her a little more personality. I don't know if my marshal will use her as the "Enemy" sent from the Triads or if he uses her in some other twisted plot against my character (which he usually does). But in the long run, it gives my character a more of a personality I think.

Also, I haven't played in California yet. So please don't kill me if I've made some obvious blunders . Anyways, would love some input on how I an develop James Woo background story from when he left California and travels east (he will most likely start in Arizona or Colorado)

** Triads has sent Lin-Ren Ishii, Codename "Shimen Soka" (Despair), to find out what has happened to one of their top assassins, James Woo, and to to deal with whatever his deception is (Lin-Ren asked what the triads true meaning of "deal with his deception" ment, and their only words was "DEATH!").

Lin-Ren grew up with James in the Triads. They were trained to be assassins together, and are the only 2 alive after the "Battle Royale". Battle Royale is the Triads graduation ceremony where they pit all the students up against each other in an all out match to find the top 3 (2 survivors from top 3??? - info coming later. Still got some pieces I need to fit together). James and Lin-Ren has always had a hate-love relationship. Both always wanted to be on top (as assassins, but probably in bed to, if they ever actually admitted to themselves they have strong feelings for eachother...).

Lin-Ren was furious on James for leaving Triads (but she is actually furious for him leaving her) and has come close to catch James 2 times since she started on the mission to find him. First time was in the town on Shannonsburg, merely a month after James had gone rogue. She had found out James was traveling with train down to City of Lost Angels and had planned to ambush him in his private room on the train coach. But in the private room she only found a note with her name on it. "I'm sorry". The note both baffled and angered Lin-Ren.

In City of Lost Angels she spent 3 weeks trying to find him, unbeknownst she was stirring up a hornets nest. James had just finished a big contract and killed a high prominent leader of the Mestizo community, and since Lin-Ren was looking for James, the Mestizo captured Lin-Ren in order to draw James out. Lin-Ren laughed at the Mestizo and knew that would never work. She accepted her coming death and tried a futile attempt to escape. Bloodied and half-dead, she awaited the killing blow, when a figure suddenly came out of shadows on top of the roofs above her. With uncanny force, a sword she knew by sight alone, cleaved the Mestizo gunslinger from the collarbone down to his stomach. Before the Mestizo gunslinger knew what had happened, 2 more of his companions fell dead to the sword. The last 3 of the Mestizo gang opened fire against the new assailant. Lin-Ren fell unconscious, not able to see what happened next.

Sometime later, she awoke from the yelling and warcries echoing through the streets. She found herself being carried in the arms of James. From the looks of it, he was in worse shape than she, but he was still running swiftly through the streets of Lost Angels. James suddenly looked down at Lin-Ren and smiled at her. Blood was running down both sides of his face and he was breathing heavily. He then look forward with uncanny eyes, "Dont worry Lin, I'll get you out of the city safely", with a serious, but soothing voice. Lin-Ren fell unconscious again.

Again, she awake to angry voices. "She'll die unless the bullet comes out!" an unknown voice said. Then she heard James, "Then get the goddamn doc, or you'll have two dead bodies in your house to explain to the Guardian Angels". James was then suddenly by Lin-Ren's side, "You are safe now... and I am truly sorry for what I have done, please forgive me. I have to leave, and never come back...". Before Lin-Ren could answere, James kissed her passionately. He then rose and left the room. Lin-Ren drifted back to unconsciousness and awoke 2 days later on a mazerunner heading back to Shan Fan.
