|
|
Hi there, I am trying to come up with priced out (non-mad-science) type equipment for my moderately wealthy Scientist / Tinkerer / Blacksmith sort of character to have in various chests and in his luggage on the train from New York to the West.
Where in the books can I find actually *priced out* gear and equipment and such? Which books have this stuff?
Heck, I couldn't even figure out where in the game the cost of silver bullets is priced out! (He reads that magazine that talks about monsters and stuff religiously, and I came up with a back-story reason for why he would have some).
Can I have some help for where I can find all of this stuff, which also much each bit costs? Particular books and page numbers, or at least chapter numbers, would be ideal. Thanks! |

Well, I'm not sure what you're asking for exactly here. "Gear and equipment" includes pretty much every purchasable commodity, and as almost every Classic book has some kind of 'priced out' items, it would take someone hours to go through each supplement and find a page number and compile a list for you - unless such a list already exists.
The Player's Guide has a pretty good list of general adventuring equipment and the like. Law Dogs has a lot of guns. Ghost Dancers has Injun stuff. Smith & Robards and the Collegium are full of Mad Science things. Hucksters & Hexes has prices on at least the various editions of Hoyle, maybe more. |

| I mean the cheap stuff...mundane stuff like tents, tools, canteens, clothes, accessories, etc. Like in that common gear list in the player's book, but MORE than just that list. You know... equipment. |

There are no book with much of "common" gear. PH has some. And Great weird north as marshalonwheels mentioned has a bunch of winter/survival gear.
In this case, google is your friend. But when it comes to prices, just talk with your marshal and just do an estimate.

Belongings 1 gives 12 silver bullets, valued to $500.
500/12 = $41,67 pr bullet _________________ Part of an ongoing deadlands classic adventure -- [Deadlands - Short story] The Sun sisters |

Probably the same.
A .45 bullet weighs about 300 grains. Thats about 0.7 ounce. In 1864 the price of silver was about $3,5/oz. Then add about $1 for the casing and powder. Approx $ 4-5 in just raw materials. Then add 5x the price of raw mats in "production costs" and overhead, and you get maybe a bullet for $25. But that is just an estimate from my side. _________________ Part of an ongoing deadlands classic adventure -- [Deadlands - Short story] The Sun sisters |

Well, silver bullets can't be COMPLETELY made of silver, otherwise you won't get any accuracy with them -- bullets are lead for ballistic reasons and such.
Mythbusters did a test of the things, I remember seeing a video a long time ago.
Still... if anyone DOES have the price from reloaded or D20, I'd be interested in it! Thanks |

well it seems reloaded is more forgiving in the matter. it costs 4.6 dollors for
50, 40 to 50 pistol bullets. 4.10 or something for 20 cap and ball shots. 3.60 for 20 shotgun shells. i'll list more if you tell me the gun you need and its caliber.
also note, i don't know if its the same in classic but the starting money for reloaded is $250. (really the only expensive thing in reloaded is weird science and buying your own transport. 150 for a horse 200 for a wagon... say good by to your spending money.)
edit: note these are using at least 99% silver so maybe they are cheaper then although not by much. |

if you need to combine the 2 metal types, then the price would probably be much higher than $25 as i suggested, since you probably need to be very skilled to combine metals.
But this is deadlands, not everything is can be quantified with mythbusters
On a personal note, and please dont take offence, but if you are playing deadlands classic, stick to those rules instead of metagaming. Talk to your marshal about the prices if you think they are steep.

isnt that just the price for regular bullets in reloaded? I couldnt find anything about silver bullets in the Reloaded PH (but i dont have any other books to use as reference tho) _________________ Part of an ongoing deadlands classic adventure -- [Deadlands - Short story] The Sun sisters |

If you want tons of everyday items, get this book.
Yes, it's the 1897 Sears & Roebuck Catalogue.
Yes, 1897 is a bit later than regular Deadlands. But then again, Deadlands is further along in technological advances, so it evens out somewhat.
I have this book and I have to say that it is worth its weight in ghost rock. _________________ "If you think I'm crazy, you should see the people I'm locked up with." - Steamdriven

not quite. its the price of regular bullets added to what their wight in silver is worth. but thats a good point by saying that since they are a specialty item that it would cost more to make then the sum of their parts. |

Yeah, the craft is what makes the costs. Bullets are cheap when they are mass produces with machinery and "staming" them in bulk into the shellcasings. But silver bullets is probably hand made by specialists making the price high. Also, silver bullets is most of "myths" even in deadlands, since most doesn't even know of the supernatural.
But I think the price for silver bullets could be the same as explosive bullets from collegium ($25 pr bullet).
