I feel like it needs something more to be worthwhile, especially since Woodsman can give me a +2 to all Survival rolls, and the two edges don't stack (being Professional edges).
How about reducing the frequency of fatigue checks for hostile environments? Or giving a bonus to resist? Or both? _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

Wildlands Explorer
These crafty and skilled individuals explore the many uninhabited planets, making use of both technology and ancient hunting knowledge in order to survive the local flora and fauna. |

| I feel its a bit weak on benefits as well. Since it seeems to be focused on certain type of biomes you might consider giving it bonuses to other skills specific to such regions. Some ideas: +2 to Knowledge (Zoology), Knowledge (Botany) or Knowledge (Weather). As well, SciFi settings often inolve scientific investigation, so someone very knowledgeable of a specific biome might get a +2 in Tracking its native animals. |

What would these skills do?
K: Zoology would ... identify animals and aliens? Can't I already do this with Common Knowledge or Survival?
K: Botany would ... identify plants and plant properties? I'm almost certain Survival covers this with the identification of food sources.
K: Weather would ... predict the weather? Survival can already do this; how else would you know when and where to find shelter? _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

In a 1-world setting like a fantasy one probably, but not necessarily in a multi-world SciFi setting. As well, both of those are far more specific than common knowledge. Even in the distant future with advanced info tech those will still probably be recognized as knowledge disciplines. As well, those knowlege skills can confer other benefits. In a SciFi supers setting I run, I allow a minor bonus to poisons and medicinals created from plants and animals based on those knowledge dicsiplines.

Again, if its multi-world it goes well beyond just knowing when you should get out of the rain or where to take cover during a twister. Knowing survival specific to a biome IMO would also give you knowledge of seasonal and extreme/unique weather.
I am admittedly interpreting it as a SciFi-World exploring setting, so if OSI Adept isn't aming for that, knowledge disciplines wouldn't be nearly as appropriate for a survival pro. |
