Has anyone done some conversions on either of these games?

I have the books but we would rather do them using Savage. Have looked around a bit and found various conversions for Marines and Guard but none on Tyranids or Chaos etc.

If you have the Horror Companion then you've already got baseline stats for some Tyranids (I'm thinking of the xenoform). Some fairly simple modifications should alter it from a certain famed franchise into a solid Tyranid swarm.
Obviously, different forms will require some different stats, but I suspect most of that can be done by adding other attack forms, modifying size, and a handful of special abilities (flight, burrow, etc.).

Chaos consists of demons and corrupted versions of other races. I'd come up with six corruption templates (one for each of the gods plus one for Chaos Undivided) and slap those onto normal units for the chaos versions. As for demons, the Horror Companion again gives us some great starting points, with several kinds of hell-spawned horrors to use as baselines, even including a few Ancient Ones to be the basis for Avatars of the chaos gods.

The final stats of all of this depend upon the base conversion you're using. Best of luck.

Tau could be like this: -1 Toughness and +1 Agility step and +1 Smarts step to reflect their superior technology and skill.
