In the DLR book it says a weird scientist can create infernal devices from their own blueprints.
Does this mean that they can basically make any item they want given the time and money or must these blueprints be acquired somehow, either by reverse engineering an owned device or other means? |

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
I am inclined to assume that they can draw up the blueprints for any item that exists and try to make them as long as they have the time, money and skill but as this is my first Deadlands game I am unsure if this is the correct route to go. |

I assume you're looking at the Tinkerin' & Manufacturin' rules in the Player's Guide...?
There's no roll required for a Mad Scientist to draw up blueprints for an existing item; the Weird Science roll at the end indicates, to some extent, how good those blueprints were.
For extremely rare, weird, or unique items, I'd probably make it more difficult to acquire the plans, or more difficult to acquire a sample from which to reverse engineer a new plan. But that would likely be an adventure of its own, and in the Marshal's purview.
Hope that helps. _________________ Matthew Cutter

Thanks, Cutter.
That is pretty much how I figured it. I appreciate the insight. |
