Ok, I've run into this problem multiple times now, especially when it comes to shooting through doorways and whatnot.
A player gets his movement for free and fires his weapon for the action. So, can a character first fire, and then move out of the doorway and back through the room the full 6 inches? Or do the actions have to be simultaneous, in that moving out of the doorway while firing removes the enemy from line of sight and doesn't allow the firing action?
What's the order these things happen in? |

All characters (heroes and villains) can take actions at any point during their movement (assuming they are allowed to take actions).
So a hero could move from behind the watering trough to the saloon door, fire into the dim saloon, and move behind an outside barrel for more cover.
Of course, the guys in the saloon are benefiting from the Dim Lighting (-1 to be shot), cover from the over-turned tables (-1 to -4, depending upon how much they cower behind it), and any cover from the angle of the doorway (Marshal's call). And the guys inside the saloon can be On Hold, waiting to shoot the hero as soon as he frames himself in the doorway - this requires an opposed Agility check, but can be devastating.
Do keep in mind the Crouching and Standing from Prone effects on Pace when the heroes are doing this sort of thing.
That clear things up for you? _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

Yes, it seems like a cheap trick, but it's actually what one is expected to do in SW. Staying behind cover as much as possible is a smart tactic when the default difficulty to hit you (barring range, cover, and the Dodge edge) is always only 4. _________________ 'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.

| As ValhallaGH mentioned, the bad guys can go On Hold and wait for the PC to show themselves - although with the SPC the player may end up with a really high Agility. So don't forget to use grenades as well! |

I think so.
We've had a couple of weird moments playing that way though. For instance, what happens if you only move half your pace, attack someone with a melee weapon, and then move the other half of your pace out of their range? Do they get the free attack from you withdrawing from melee? Or does that not count as "being in melee combat?" What happens if you move past the enemy during your turn without attacking? |

| If you attack someone then you're in melee combat, and they'll get an attack when you move away. If you just move into range and then keep moving you're fine (unless they're On Hold and choose to initiate combat). |
