Just curious if anyone knew where (albeit a different forum) I could find someone to do a custom character sheet layout using a modified Encumbrance system for Savage Worlds?

So many folks here do character sheets, it's crazy!!! Wink
What do you want it to look like? Landscape, Portrait? Blank lines, circles, or dice symbols? Actual Skills listed, or just blanks? All of that stuff need be considered when doing character sheets...

Starting with the Character sheet in the back of the SWD.

Portrait
Blank Lines for skills

Remove the Equipment section
Total WT Carried
Weight Limit
Encumbrance Penalty
remove the Dice instead have a d__ next to each skill line, but keep the dice icons next to the Attributes.

Move Power/Trapping up to fill in the gap
Next to each weapon have two open hand images to indicate if it requires one or two hands to use the weapon.
Example: You can see at the bottom this weapon are two hand outlines, the fact that one is filled in indicates it is a one handed weapon.

Remove the WT column for Min Str. Add a column called Condition with 5 dots underneath it for each line. (the game has decaying weapons)

It's Page 2 that would need the most work.
At the top would be a section of four columns of 3 lines each, this section would be titled "Quick Access Items"

Then Four columns of 12 lines each, outlined by the profile of a backpack, at the bottom of each column would a row labeled Encumbrance Modifiers - Beneath Column 1 would be 0, then -1 under the second, then -2 under the third, and -3 under the fourth. This section would be labeled "Loot."

Beneath that would be a section for Vehicles with the basic Stat Line available:
Acc/Top Speed: __/__
Toughness:___(__)
Crew __+__
Notes: (4 lines)
And Two weapon lines (copies from page 1)

If possible this vehicle section would be outlined by an Open-Ended Wrench/Spanner shape

Thematically this is for a Post Apocalyptic setting called Raiders and Ruins I am working on and while it is in the early stages of prototype and play-testing I would like to maybe one day take it public. Then again if the Post Apoc Tool Kit comes out after the Sci Fi one, then it may be made irrelevant.

I highly recommend looking at Microsoft Publisher. I have managed to make a number of very nice custom character sheets with it, including one that looks just like the default SW sheet.

I might take a crack at your sheet, since I actually enjoy doing it, but since it's not something I'd use, I make not promises. I might be able to get you started on omething that you can modify yourself. I'll see what kind of time I have this weekend and get back to you here.

It doesn't have to be expensive. I put the following together in the free Open Office Draw programme:

Savage Legend character sheet

(and for the record, no, I don't want to initiate a discussion on collapsed skill trees)

Free is even better, that's a nice sheet!

You know, I've never used Publisher. I tend to make all my sheets (and many other things) using Power Point, with slides in Portrait mode.

I love PP because of the freedom to move everything around "free form" to get just the right spacing/etc.

How does publisher compare?

I've been using Publisher for over 15 years, I think, since early Windows. I have managed to obtain cheap copies, but I'd probably pay full price if I had to, since I use it so much. Mostly, my skill level with it is so high that I am able to very quickly get what I want.

When I made my SWD sheet, for instance:

I took a screen cap of the page background from the PDF. I put that in the background of the MSPUB file. I copied the text from the PDF to MS Word, and was able to figure out the fonts used. I created text boxes and tables to place the various stat blocks where I wanted them and then used shapes for the dice and circles/stars along the bottom. At this point, I am able to modify the sheet however I want. If the character has more weapons, then I can expand the table. If they have powers, I can stick them in anywhere I want and rearrange the other objects to fit it in.

So far, I haven't had to customize the sheets much, but here's a sheet I made for my Anima: Beyond Fantasy campaign where I mimicked the SWD Sheet with fonts, images, and colors from Anima:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/47455822/Anima/SW%20Versions/Miksa%20Hara%20-%20SW.pdf

Actually, those aren't the right fonts, but you get the idea.

Sorry I haven't had a go at your sheet yet, but I still would like to try.

I haven't used PP, myself, but I suspect it does what you're talking about, and more. It's designed almost exactly for this sort of thing, thought I doubt they had character sheets in mind. I like the fact that you really don't have to use many images on it. You can re-create a lot of the graphics on a character sheet using actual objects in MSPUB. Also, I like to type out my character sheets for legibility, so I can just enter my character info right onto the sheet, like it was an editable pdf. Except, it's even more editable.

No worries, if you get to it that would be great.

I will try my hand using Power Point, simply because I have it already and am fairly comfortable using it. But may advance to Draw (since it is free) if I can't the basics in PPT.
