I thought I had clarified this in an earlier post, but I have found new input on the forum that leaves me confused again.
So, a Wild Card can only have 3 wounds for purposes of anything except soaking? So if someone takes 10 wounds from a large missile, to soak them they need 10 successes?
On a related note, if someone tries to heal the wounded character right after the missile incident, would they have to heal 3 wounds to leave the character at 0 wounds, or would they have to heal the 10 wounds?

The only difference is that the character might spend a Benny to try to Soak the 1 wound, but he's better off using the Benny to reroll the Incapacitation result than attempt to Soak 20 wounds." |

Essentially, they would have to roll a success and 9 raises to Soak all of the damage from the missile.
If the target was unwounded, then a success and 6 raises (Soaking 7 of the 10 wounds) would leave them with 3 wounds but at least not Incapacitated by the attack.

Well, first they would have to heal the target's Incapacitation. Anything past 3 wounds causes a Wild Card to be Incapacitated. It doesn't matter if it's 1 wound more or 7 wounds more, the character is Incapacitated with 3 wounds, and any remaining wounds are ignored.
So the healer would have to remove the target's Incapacitated state, and then he could attempt to heal the target's three wounds. _________________ Clint Black
