Why do you need a flowchart??

an updated flow chart of combat with the change to shaken rules would benefit my ever rotating player group.
I feel like I've asked something bad here... |

Not bad, just not something most use I think. Plus, I think chillburn is correct. I looked at the flowchart posted here...

And the only effect SWD would have on it is the page number listed for Incapacitation, moving to page 68 or 77 (SWD or SWDEX). Flowcharts tend to follow the process, not the effects, and the process has hardly changed over the years. _________________ Clint Black

How the hell did I miss this? Admittedly it's not something I or most of my group would need but, for those learning the system, it could prove useful. _________________ Ejector seat? You're joking!

The thing that really threw me off was that it has you roll all the dice and then look at range. If the range is close and you are using a larger ranged weapon, then there was no reason to roll in the first place. I'd place determining situational considerations and modifiers as the first step before the dice are rolled. _________________ Clint Black

Actually, though I have a pretty good grasp of SW's crunch and a technical background, that chart did give me the heebie-jeebies.
I think if you flopped that down in front of a RPG newbie they would run screaming from the room. It looks complex. _________________ Biting! It's like kissing but there's a winner!

| agree. I look at that and think SW combat is complicated. |

For more crunch....
Add a loop for Called Shots, Wild Attacks, The Drop, Cover, etc...
Also, a loop for 'Do you want to spend a bennie and reroll you attack(s)?' _________________ There is no problem in this Universe that can't be solved with the application of roasted porcine flesh...

I wasn't aware that there was a change to the Shaken rules in SWD/SWDEE. Could someone fill me in?

I think the only thing that changes is that your Pace does not get halved anymore. |

In SWD, while shaken you can perform free actions: e.g. moving up to your full pace, speaking a short sentence, falling prone.
In SWEX you could only move half pace and "perform no other actions", which does not exclude speaking, dropping prone etc. but it was not explicitly stated. _________________ Biting! It's like kissing but there's a winner!
