Just starting running my first Deadlands game. I've picked up the two big plot point campaigns and trying to decide where to start. The official chronology has The Flood before The Last Sons. I was wondering if it would work to run the two with the same characters (those that survive).
Would veterans be too tough for playing The Last Sons or could I just ride through all the plot-points with the same posse?
I'm suspecting that there might be plot-points for each of the reckoners and it might be interesting to take them through it all. Of course some things won't be a surprise after a while. |

| My understanding is that each of the two plot points is designed to take characters from Novice through to Legendary. With that in mind, starting The Last Sons with a posse full of Veteran/Legendary characters will mean you have to do a significant amount of tweaking to the stuff thrown at them for it to be a challenge. |

Eh. Significant is an overstatement.
It will totally work (I'm heading there myself), but you'll find yourself needing to ramp up some of the challenges in Last Sons. Either shortening / eliminating downtime (thus making the accumulated wounds and fatigue a major issue), or increasing the abilities of foes.
But not that much. Savage Worlds is notorious for putting big holes in legendary heroes using nameless mooks. The only major slowdown will be if your party has a lot of area-of-effect / rapid-fire heroes - they tend to make dozens of Extras drop like hollywood extras. Not always a bad thing, though. _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

Good to know someone else is doing it... actually I'd like the same posse (with some roster changes for death and dismemberment) go through what I expect to be 4 main plot points (one for each reckoner)
I have no problem with them mowing through a ton of extras. I tend to run more on the side of pulp/cinematic than gritty. I'll have a better handle on their abilities later and will tune accordingly. |

You'll have to work fast to get your posse from The Flood's climactic scene to a stagecoach in the Sioux Nations (where The Last Sons opens) in about a week. But if they hurry (for some reason), and you tweak a few dates, shouldn't be too hard.
As others have said, altering the encounter difficulties is probably the easiest part. Let us know how it goes! _________________ Matthew Cutter

I'll either tweak the dates a little or depending on how they go they might have reason to get moving. Shaman vision, buddhist enlightenment, word of god, etc. Or maybe the agent just has to rush back to make a report.
For some reason I had a vision of them taking an iron dragon express train or airship back over the souix lands.

I'll drop back and maybe do some play posts. First time I've run SW since the first edition (many changes I like in EE and Deluxe) and first time in Deadlands since '97 (and then it was just as a player). First time for SW and Deadlands for most of the group (except my wife who also played Deadlands in '97 and really wanted to play this time). |
