It's a 120 MB(!) download. Not very convenient. And you'd have to scroll down to see it in the content list. |
Er, you could just scroll down the page and click on the relevant link to download the individual file. | That wasn't always so. They've recently added that, which I had suspected they would.
| The GIT! wrote: | | Accessing the RSS feed is awesome but, honestly, how the heck are you supposed to find it from the website? If the link hadn't been posted in this thread I'd have no idea where to find it. | It took quite a bit for me to dig that URI up, too. There really should be icons on the home page for the the RSS feed and Pinnacle's Facebook page. _________________ Kristian

I agree! The larger "feed" along with the cleaned up "recent products" + "test drive" icons along the side look really good! Site is really coming together! Good Job Peg! |

| Sorry. I have to put my hat in with the negatives. Granted, it may look fine on a desktop, but the mobile site looks...unfortunate on an iPhone using Safari. I do realize you guys are trying to sell products, but the first things I see are a menu with a dollar amount highlighted followed by bunch of store items (most of which I already own). It honestly looks more like FRPgames or some other store site rather than a publisher's site. |

Thanks all! We're still working hard to make it everything we hoped it would be.
Your input is greatly appreciated!

I guess I should add that it does look really nice on a desktop (now that I'm viewing it that way). I usually check it from an iPhone though. Perhaps in the name of more constructive criticism I should make a request: could you add an option to disable the mobile site?
I'm used to navigating a lot of sites (such as PEG's old one) in "full" mode, and just tapping to expand a section I need to see clearly. |

I noticed that I can't find the Downloads page. Has it been moved or is that still Work-In-Progress? _________________ My Savage Worlds Blog

I am having the same problem. I'm looking right now, cause I want to make sure I got the most up-to-date SWD character sheet, but I can't find it right now...
UPDATE (9:37 pm EST) - I found them, apparently, you have to go to each prodcut line, and the download links are in each product, rather than one page for each. _________________ ~~KT~~ |

Wow, spiffy new design! Looking pretty good. I like the more streamlined news section, and highly visible product links -- it looks like it would be much better for new visitors to find stuff. I like the art to. And
OH MY GOD AN RSS FEED!!!!! It must be my birthday!!

It's somewhere we needed to at least visit, I suppose. Personally, I'm still not so sure about this place. |

My first reaction was "what the hell happened to my Savage World site?". I have to say that I don't quite like it. It gives me the feeling of all the other "new" sites out there, as well as facebook- which I dispise.
But then again, I don't like change. I'm sure the site will get better and I will forget all about the previous setup. It may take me awhile, but I'll get used to it, and more than likely come to like it.
But that's just me.

PEG guys,
The front page looks much better and cleaner, now, without all of the product images and with the divs for the text being wider. The games page also looks better with the image links replacing the text links.
It is coming along very nice! _________________ My compilation thread of Clint's advice, rules options, and design insight |

One thing I do miss, is the Forum icon that had two adventurers surrounded by a rabble of angry monsters. That image always seemed somehow appropriate. ;}

Just a few comments from my side:
1.) Good idea to offer an RSS feed, but why isn't is visible on the Home-Page? If I click on "Games", it's near the Facebook button, but not on "Home"
2.) "Games -> Deadlands" should also have 1 "Products" and under that perhaps some subcategories. The way it's handled now, it's inconsistent (because Supplements are for all, but the products are separated) and the free stuff is hard to find.
3.) I would recomment a News Archive. Of course the RSS is a good replacement, but not everyone uses it
4.) The actual news links to a "Free Downloads" section (http://www.peginc.com/product-category/free-downloads/)
I was not able to navigate to this section in any way. Is this intentionally hidden?
5.) Perhaps it's just me, but I don't like the following naming inconsistency: Every product has a Downloads section for free stuff which is named "Downloads" in the URL and the "flat-navigation-tree" which is visible under the top menu as soon as you are in a subsection.
The menu and the links from the Products section are called "One Sheets and Supplements". It's hard to know that these 2 names mean the same.
6.) I really like the "flat-navigation-tree" (eg to jump back from "Games->Evernight->Downloads" to "Games->Evernight"), but why isn't it possible to proceed forward using the tree? (eg: I'm at "Games->Evernight" and want to have some kind of a dropdown box to go to "Games->Evernight->Downloads" using this menu)
It would be an intuitive way to navigate forward and backword.
7.) (one more about the navigation ) Why is "Games->Evernight -> Products" (this is the structure in the top-menu) not "Games->Evernight -> Products" in the flat-navigation-tree? It's just reduced to "Evernight" which destroys the possibility to navigate back to "Games" using the flat-tree.
All in all the website looks good, but the navigation must be restructured to be used intuitively. |
