Coming back to savage worlds after a being gone for a bit, picked up Deluxe and like it a lot.
The optional rule for no power points where you subtract half the point cost rounded down from the casting roll, how does that apply to a two or three shot use of bolt? Is each bolt cast with no modifier because that bolt cost only 1, or do all three bolts take a -1 penalty to the casting because the total cost of casting the spell would be 3.
Also why I have you what should a race that normally grants an extra 5 power points if it takes Arcane Background get under this no power point system? _________________ "Why does the sun come up? Since multiple bolts are resolved as multiple Arcane skill dice (but only one Wild Die for a single action), each it considered its own roll with a separate penalty based on the PP cost per roll, in this case 1 PP.
So you would roll 3 dice at a base 0 penalty (half of 1 PP rounded down) with one Wild Die if a Wild Card.
Of course, as with Backlash, the multiple dice rolled as one action means multiple failures using the no PPs option can result in wounds (Shaken on one failure, a wound on two, two wounds if all three fail). That doesn't even get into possible Backlash effects on top of that.

The No Power Points system inherent presumes no effects related to Power Points are used such as the Power Points and Recharge Edges. Same thing would apply to Racial Abilities; those effects just wouldn't be used.
If trying to convert a race that already has that ability, there is no set "official" replacement. It would likely be too dependent on the specific setting taking into account any effects of adding the No Power Points rule to it.
Hope that helps. _________________ Clint Black
