After a few folks leaving our Deadlands group, I'm adding a couple more. It looks as though this weekend might be a session, but with only the newbies able to make it. We'll be making characters, then I was thinking I should put together an introductory session to showcase the system and some of the neat things about it.
We're playing The Flood, and it's about time for the PCs to track down Rutherford Ellington Dillenger, the fellow hiding out in the Shan Fan Hotel after the Explorer's Lodge is burned down. I was thinking of replacing Dillenger with the new characters, so the new guys get to explain about the Amulet and Pennington-Smythe and all that.
So, getting there:
I figure the new characters are initiates in the Explorer's Society, and are there for the Triad attack on the Lodge. So, I'm thinking perhaps one or two fights, particularly ways to demonstrate the effectiveness of Tricks and Tests of Will, probably a chase through Shan Fan, maybe some kind of Dramatic Task.
Anyone have any suggestions, either of ways to pull these off or for bits of the system that are cool to show off? The Characters are likely to be a Huckster and either a Martial Artist or Texas Ranger. |

When i finish the map for the Four Aces Club i have the idea to make NPC list for various eras to reuse the maps adnasium
One is a club in Shan Fan called the "House of the Iron Lotus"
All the staff are ran away or bought off working girls and the leader is the cook "Chop Tzu" with twin meat cleavers
The could meet at the club and get accosted and there would be a big three way fight, if you are up to running twenty lady martial artist and a eunuch warlock accountant

Thank God he's not a martial artist and a Texas Ranger, otherwise the bad guys will never stand a chance...
I would go with an adventure that makes them friends or aquaintances of one of the principle people that the original party has or will meet soon.

Actually, they'll be facing Chuck Norris when the Shan Fan Kumite rolls around, as well as a mess of other movie martial artists.
But I digress... |
