Persuaded by many in the forum I bought Masks and it is indeed a good book. If nothing else it reminded me how important vivid NPCs are to a good game.
In the last Sundered Skies session with my group they won the approval of Bortas, the chief engineer/priest of a Dwarven battleship: a thing not easily done. Bortas is gruff, cheerful and his back-slaps are friendly but devastating. The scene where he critically inspected their "not-bad for human work, bit flimsy, with all due respect" frigate and suggested some improvements was great fun to play and engaged the whole table.
One of my players made the telling remark, "whenever you (ie me) are enjoying running a scene it rubs off on the rest of us, the energy is infectious". That is something to take forward: I need to make sure I enjoy and am energised by the situations I present. _________________ Biting! It's like kissing but there's a winner!
