Would I be correct in saying that if you are using a ranged power (such as bolt) against an opponent in melee with you that the same rule as using a pistol would apply? i.e. The TN is the opponent's parry rather than 4.

I couldn't find anything specific in the SWD rulebook and my search-fu on teh forum failed.

No ranged weapon larger than a pistol can be used in close combat, and any ranged weapon smaller would roll against Parry.

From there, it depends on the specific trappings for casting bolt. For instance, if it has to be cast through a staff, then it couldn't be used at all. If it just takes a simple hand movement (or less), then it could and would go against Parry.

Of course, for that matter, trappings could potentially alter any of these depending on what is chosen, but it would be a trade off of effects of course.
