| I was browseing rpgnow and noticed something. Savage Worlds is cheap. The add ons and suppliments rarely go above $9.99 and many are $5 or less. Was this a happy accident or does PEG intend there games to be affordable? |

| i do believe yes. their basic set is really cheap. they make their money off deadlands and maybe twelve to midnight(all though i think their just a license company. not entirely sure). that stuff is a bit more expensive but still much cheaper then the other rpgs i've seen. |

The low(ish) price is actually one of the reasons I made the switch to Savage Worlds. True, I think I overpaid for the pre-EE Savage Worlds Deluxe PDF, but that was my own fault for being so excited about the rules. I'm just glad that I'll be able to get on the pre-order bandwagon for the Sci-Fi Companion, whenever it comes out. I missed out on the print+PDF bundles for the other three companions. _________________ Josh Leavitt, Editor

The low price of entry is a big selling point. Most RPGs i've played, only a single rulebook would be used for the whole group. I have two SWEX books right now, and I'm planning to pick up SWDE when it releases, and some of my players are now planning on picking up their own copies, since it's so affordable.
In fact, Savage Worlds accounts for almost all of my RPG spending. Most of my other gaming relies more on free, fan-made content, so it's easy for me to include just about any SW release in my budget. _________________ You can't save the world without kicking a few old ladies down the stairs. |

That's the reason I have three copies of EE. Being able to lend out the core rules without it crippling your ability to run the game is EPIC. _________________ "Anybody else feel like fishing for Rattlers?"

I have enough copies of the SWEE for each of my players and myself so everyone has easy access to the rules save the setting rules.
I think the less expensive core rule book+setting book model is a brilliant idea and would like to see other RPGs adopt it. I have a hard time dropping $30-60 just for the rules and background fluff if I'm a player. Sure, the book will have the complete game, but if I'm a player, I only need the rules and setting information that is common knowledge. I'm more than willing to spend $10 for the rules I'll need as a player for the game, and if I'm the GM I spend the $30-40 for the setting. _________________ Playing: Deadlands Noir, Planescape via D&D 4th ed

Yup, that's what I do too... I get Explorer's rulebooks for each of my players as well as myself, and whatever the setting book is for me.
I wouldn't be willing to do that with Certain Other Games because of the cost of the player's book. _________________ Andy
