Right, something that came up which I could do with some clarification on if I may. I have spent the last 30 mins or so using the search function although evidently my skill is d4-2...
| Quote: | | SWD Errata ► Page 69 under Soak Rolls: Change “A Wild Card may spend a Benny to make a ‘Soak’ roll, which is a Vigor check.” to “A character may spend a Benny to make a ‘Soak’ roll, which is a Vigor check.” |
So, just need to check, when you say 'character' do you mean a character controlled by a player? I am taking it as that therefore only the players can choose to soak and not wildcard opposition thrown at them?
The climax of Murder on the Hellstromme Express has just played out and the Martial Artist got the first hit on the Dial's Titan and managed to ace his damage to 34 which, even with a Toughness of 18 (A4) took it straight through to incapacitated... A stunning 'hero' moment for the posse themselves and just wanted to check that it's bennies (it is a wildcard) couldn't be spent on soaking.
Or is it that a 'character' is someone like, say Wyatt Earp whom could soak rolls whereas a 'Indian Shaman' is wildcard and wouldn't (I recognise that the latter could simply be a house rule intpretation).
Anyway, clarification for a confused chap would be appreciated.

edit: Had a reply in the Deadlands forum (to another post) clarifying that a 'character' is any thing in game, wild card, player, beastie or extra which helps and even opens ones eyes to the fact there is some wood there... |

Looks like you found the answer, a character is any Wild Card or Extra in the game. In short, anyone that can spend a Benny can attempt to Soak. _________________ Clint Black
