I had another dream that might make a setup for a game setting,

You all know the drill, take five and smoke em if you got em.

For Veterans Day weekend THIS! Network had the movie “The Longest Day (Five hour D Day invasion epic) that I mostly watched twice at work and once at home, and then I took a nap at lunch browsing a TTA Knock off.

The Longest Year

In the future mankind has expanded to colony worlds that are very self sufficient and there is no central authority in the human domain. Space travel takes weeks and months between worlds maybe 1 week a light year. Tech would be more on line with Star Wars (NO LAZER SWORDS) than star trek, it is all used and gritty. Missiles are still in use but obviously more futuristic with better targeting and warheads. Firearms still exist although more high tech with newer propellants and ceramic and high end alloy rounds. EM Propulsion weapons are in use (Mass, Rail, Nail, Gauss, Needle guns). Energy weapons are few and large and expensive. Inter galactic space ships for the most part can only land on a planet like a brick wrapped in lemon and it is pretty rare like a star trek Blue Alert. Thus atmospheric shuttles and transports are still in use and fighters and bombers in a military situation.

An alien force (the Marauders of Pherkard) has taken earth and held it for several years
Use orc Stats, All equipment gets one step up of toughness and damage, one step down in pace and speed. All vehicles and craft have the jury rigged flaw but there are a lot of them and they are united

None of the colony worlds really care, as it does not look like they are expanding the invasion to other worlds

But some humans wont let it go,

A rag tag fugitive human fleet is about to counter invade and free a sullied world known as Earth. It is mostly independent adventures, mercenaries and clans with a few AWOL officers from planetary militaries that have gone “rouge” and taken some small fleets of real military craft with them. The combined force is called the Sons of Terra (except the Clone warriors of the binary system of Saphros and Lesbos insist it’s the daughters of Terra) It’s like if the Day Day invasion had been made up of only the Free French, Free Dutch, The Polish Legion, Her Majesties Jewish Brigade, the X-Force Commando (that’s what cousin Winnie named them) and the OSI Balkan Air force.

So the game setting starts with the D Day landing and then the land battle to retake the home world

Looking back on the idea I can see it is a burrito of the Pirate attack from a Hammer’s Slammers Novel that parallels the Odyssey, The Book Falling Torch (without the earth government in exile arguing over the tax on Idaho potatoes) the cool 5 minutes of star ship troopers, the boy hood wonder of looking at the pictures in TTA and Galactic Encounters wrapped in a D Day Tortilla
