| I really liked the format of your newsletter btw. The graphs showing the release schedules were especially nice. |

Thank you so much! I've been taking some time to train my wife and business partner up on layout, using Indesign (learning the fine art of delegation is my side of the process), and this was her first foray into it.
I will pass your feedback on to her (and watch her blush).
I'm very proud of how quickly she's picked things up. The covers for the Earthdawn Savage Worlds Edition books are her work also.

No worries. Have been reading reviews on Earthdawn since the announcement and am quite taken with the dark fantasy vibe.
Was actually not in the market for a fantasy game (15 years of only D&D will do that to you) but the setting is different and cool. Will probaly mine it for ideas.
As soon as i get paid (friday) i will get the bundle, hardcover, to see your skill in Savaging stuff. Hopefully your Savage-fu is mighty grasshoppers.. |

I've done the pre-order, so take the following with a grain of salt.
I myself am insanely curious how well ED will actually transfer over to Savage Worlds. Its always been a setting that was too closely tied to the system it used to (In my opinion) convert well to savage worlds. The name-magic, thread-magic, Adept Profession, and other things were very unique to ED and its system.
SO, seeing an Official conversion has me both excited and curious, so much that I've pre-ordered just to see how they tackled this concept. |

I started a bi-weekly Earthdawn 3rd edition campaign nearly a year ago now, and it's still going strong. I picked up all the 1st edition books back in the day, and wanted to run a campign for nearly 20 years, and finally got it going.
Around the same time, I learned about Savage Worlds and got into that.
I never thought you'd want to combine the two in any way. In particular, the way that Earthdawn's concepts are reflected in the game mechanics would be lost in a conversion. That's actually something I'm not very interested in discussing, especially since I'm going to pre-order the pdf here when I get home from work, and I might as well save it for when I have actually read it.
I recently converted the other RPG I'm running into Savage Worlds, and I'm not opposed to converting this one too, but I'd like to see how it's handled. I'll let you know once I've read it. |

Yeah, I think a "successful" Savaging is less about trying to convert every mechanical feel over from the other system and more about trying to capture the feel of the setting itself in SW's existing terms.
That said I've been surprised at how well certain concepts have translated well into special SW mechanics. Realms of Cthulhu does a spot on job dealing with the slow sanity downward spiral that happens when the PCs are exposed to more and more of the supernatural. |

I feel the need to drop in and mention I've had chance to peruse this book, and as a long time Earthdawn fan (it's my favorite fantasy setting), ED is safe in James' and Hank's hands. I don't see running Earthdawn any other way going forward. This will likely do to my old Earthdawn books what Deadlands Reloaded did to my Classic Deadlands books, which is to say I will keep them as valued memories, but I won't be playing them any longer.
They've really captured the Earthdawn feel in Savage Worlds. _________________ Ron Blessing

Ron,
Glad to hear. Like I said. I've been nervous about the conversion. But it didn't stop me from immediately pre-ordering it.
The world is amazing. So I'm excited to see how it comes out in SW format. I'm still not convinced its going to capture "Earthdawn". However, I'm more than willing to wait and reserve judgement until I see the final product.
Besides, if that fails there's always Pathfinder Earthdawn. lol |

| Did you get an advanced copy? I pre-ordered the pdf only last night and couldn't figure out how to download it. I assumed it wasn't available yet (it did say pre-order, after all), and they'd email me when I could download it. |

I was looking it over on a consultative basis; it's not out yet. _________________ Ron Blessing

Darn you, Ron. Darn you to heck.
If I convert, I will definitely be keeping my books as well. Even when I wasn't playing, I regularly pulled them out to read through. They were well written and full of adventure ideas. |

Awesome to see some news from the 'Brick, and also the bravery of showing "where we're up to graphs"! I look forward to seeing the bars on there wobble up and down as people bet on completion for them - it'll be like watching a horse race
Very excited about SWED, I might have to get my Shard-writing hat on again. _________________ http://basstoneslap.tv |

We're thinking up setting up an online sweepstake... _________________ FASA GAMES, INC. -- West Chester, OH, USA

Hiya,

That information is in the product description on our shop (where you made the pre-order), plus in the News Announcement on our forums, sorry.
If the Passions are kind (and real life work and RedBrick work don't combine to kill me through massive overwork this week -- I'm in I.T. so it's a crapshoot), we should have the PDFs released this weekend, most likely on Sunday at time of writing, though I'm still aiming for Saturday, March 31 (April Fool's Day does seem kinda poetic though... /grin). In any case, once the PDF is ready, the download link will be enabled in your order and I'll email those who have pre-ordered PDFs to let people know where and how to get it.
It's our first time running through this new pre-order release process, so I really appreciate your patience as we work out a few quirks. Hopefully our new shop has been straightforward to navigate and order from. We're looking to improve things over time, but resources are limited and we have to balance function over form.
We've got one more proofing cycle before locking in print files, so there may be time to squash annoying bugs that "tunnel vision across multiple people" fails to catch. This means that there will likely be an update to download around mid-April. After that, we update the PDF with the latest Errata as we find time -- generally at least once per year.
Having a legal PDF is a REALLY GOOD way to ensure that you always have an up-to-date version of the book for reference. And it helps keep our authors and artists employed (not just for this game line, but across the company), so your custom and support is GREATLY appreciated!
Kind regards,
James Sutton

Hi Ringer,

Good question. If you are planning on running the game, then you will need the Game Master's Guide for Barsaive-specific (Barsaive is the "default" setting for Earthdawn) creatures, dragons, Horrors, and other nasties. Also for magical treasures. And there's comprehensive background on the province itself.
But out of the gate, you could get by with just the Player's Guide, limited by using creatures out of the Bestiary in the Savage Worlds Core Rulebook.
You won't have long to wait for the GM Guide, in any case; it's next up to the batting plate.

So then, does this mean the PDF can be downloaded now? If so, I still can't figure out how. _________________ My delusions of grandeur are way bigger than yours! |

No problem. I was pretty sure I understood what was going on. Turns out I was right.

I complete get this. I'll admit, I haven't paid for every pdf I've read, but I make a point of always paying for the ones I use. Even if I never play this one, I'm happy to give you guys $12 to keep the good stuff coming. |
