I'm the creator of the Online Adventure Card Creator and have noticed that a lot of people like to create cards for Monsters and/or NPCs, etc. That got me to thinking that perhaps that is something that should be created as a separate tool - the Adventure Card format isn't very good for creatures/encounters...
So, before I started work on creating such a thing - I figured I would ask you all, what type of format would you want? I'm really interested in size of the page, but any other suggestions would be welcome as well...
Thanks,

I just want access to the cards other people have already made, no point in duplicating effort.
As for monster cards, change the format to be more GM friendly. Rather than listing "Horns Str+d4" with the monsters Fighting d6 and Strength D12+2 listed in two different places, just write "Horns d6(d12+2+d4)" |

As I love your tool to create Edge/Item and Monstercards I can only favor this.
I think it would be good if a Wild Card Sign could be placed in Wild Card - Cards.

| I've been writing out index cards by hand for all of the monsters in my campaign: having them as a handy at-the-table reference like that is just too useful. Being able to just print index cards would be even better! |

Metacreator does allow you to print on 3"x5" index cards already, although I'd prefer to tweak the layout a bit. It can also be set to either print Damage as "Str+d6" OR "d8+d6", depending on your preferences. However, the learning curve with that app turns some people off.
I think a simple form for the various index card sizes would be best: 3x5, 4x6, Trading card size, etc. Just copy and paste and away you go. _________________ "Your GM is metagaming ... and wrong!" |

I've been making little NPC/creature cards that are landscape orientation, the same dimensions as typical trading cards. That way, I can insert them into pocket binder card collector organizers, once I've cut them out. It helps me to keep them sorted.
I usually just leave the back sides blank; that space can be used for filling in additional notes, especially if I end up handing the card to a player to use as an Extra ally (to record things such as weapons given to the ally, etc.). _________________

At Origins, Shane used something similar for pre-gen characters for a table-top scenario. They were landscape oriented, roughly poker-sized cards, with a name (i.e. "US Agent"), and a stat-block with the characters attributes, relevant skills, and primary weapon/stats listed.
Each card had a nice background and I think he had them in individual card protectors...so they may have been printed on just heavy paper or lighter card-stock from what I could tell.
Something like that for monsters, maybe allies, heck even a PC version for quick reference during combat encounters, would be awesome. |
