|
|
I've just recently started running Space 1889: Red Sands and am looking for some good Victorian/Steampunk figure flats or miniatures. I've got some figure flats from the original Space 1889 game, but they don't have the variety of figures I'd like. I've also got Deadlands figure flats and minis, Runepunk, Rippers, and American Gothic figure flats and Chronoscope minis, which have some figures/minis which are appropriate for Victorian/Steampunk. But again, I'd like some additional variety.
Can anyone recommend any other good sources for Victorian/Steampunk figure flats or miniatures? Any links would be greatly appreciated. _________________ Betsy Potter: "I'm sad that there's so much evil in your heart."

In the free One-Sheet downloads on this site, there are a few with figure flats. One in particular has a few figures that might be useful for Victorian-era civilians - "Harvest Home," an adventure for Rippers:
http://www.peginc.com/Downloads/Rippers/HarvestHome.pdf
For miniatures, I tend to check web sites (e.g., http://www.miniaturemarket.com) that sell individual "Clix" minis that have been broken out and are sold as "singles" - particularly those "commons" that sell cheaply because they're not "worth" as much in the original game.
HorrorClix has a few figures that could work in a Victorian setting, though the scale is somewhere in the department of "heroic" 28 to 30mm, dwarfing traditional 25mm figures (and Savage Worlds figure flats). If you were going to use these minis in combination with SW figure flats, you'd probably have to boost the printed size a bit. (I'm only mentioning these because I've used a few, and individually they tend to be fairly cheap compared to, say, Reaper Chronoscope. Of course, I've got a few Chronoscope figures, too. )
For instance, from the "Freakshow" set, I've modified the "Snake Oil Salesman" to remove the extraneous snakes (using a bit of putty to fill in the gaps), and I've got something that could probably pass player judgement for a Victorian campaign. The "Freddie Von Bludd" figure is too weird to pass for any normal Victorian character, but has proven to be a fairly cheap source for ready-made top hats (two of them, in fact).
"Madame Gehenna" (AKA "Gypsy") could work just in case you need an old gypsy fortune teller (the ghostly apparitions can be fairly easy trimmed off). The Firefighter and the Tracker look as if they could fit the setting, and definitely the "Jack the Ripper" figure.
Over in the HeroClix line, there's "Owl" from the "Hammer of Thor" line who MIGHT be able to pass for some Victorian gentleman, if only one takes a hobby knife to trim off those strange "wolver claws," or whatever they are, first. _________________

Well, off the top of my head, you might try this site:

Thanks for the appreciation, it is always rewarding to know that what you do has been useful for fellow gamers.
Whilst I am still using figures for wargaming, I have been using more and more tokens on virtual tabletop applications (Gametable first and now Maptool) for RPGs. I have found that you can have prepare more places and that it is easier to improvise on a VTT than on a tabletop. _________________ Savage Worlds Toybox |

Thanks for all the replies. I'd forgotten that I already had the ones from Scarecrow's forum post and from the Rippers one-sheet.
As for the others, it looks like I've got some link exploration in my near future... _________________ Betsy Potter: "I'm sad that there's so much evil in your heart."

| Both Arion Games and Precis Intermedia do pretty good series of paper mini's. I use many of their fig's in my games. |
