THAR BE PIRATES HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pirates all the way, though I do have a soft spot for the shadowy assassins. But the nautical freedom and skullduggery that pirates stand for is much more awesome.

I wanted to vote Pirate Ninjas, or perhaps Ninja Pirates, but neither was an option.

But it's bad luck to have a woman on a ship!

Look up "Ray Sevens - The Pirate Song" on YouTube. All the videos suck, but the song's pretty funny.

I guess to further explain, it's just always been an era in history that's been a fascination for me. That fascination only increased with exposure to games and movies.

I'm so caught up with it that I've never seen a pirate movie I didn't like, even the box-office bombs like Cutthroat Island, or Pirates with Walter Matthau.

I've run several campaigns in a variety of systems set in the GAP (Golden Age of Piracy). Some were no-magic, pseudo-historical, and others weren't. I draw inspiration from all those films, my own interest in the era, and even Classical Mythology, borrowing ideas from such voyages as Jason and the Argonauts and the Odyssey.

I even ran one that was set in the same milieu as the Pirates of the Caribbean movies (same world, but well before the events of the films). That one was a lot of fun. Mermaids, half-demon noble women, nautical mythology, mysterious islands, a giant octopus, and even a few nods to Lovecraft!
