Hey guys been the playing the hell out of Mass Effect 2 and was inspired by the ammo mods

So i decided to come up with different ammo mods for my cyberpunk campaign. There are 4 levels of Ammo Mods each more powerful or adding additonal effects from the previous version
Ammo Mods are avaliable for pistols, smg, rifle, shotgun, and sniper rifles

Mk 1 Armor-Piercing Round: +1 AP and +2 damage to unarmored targets

Mk 1 Incinderiary Ammo: Converts the weapon damage to fire. Target can catch fire if so duration lasts 1 round

Mk 1 Cryo Ammo: If the target is wounded by this ammo they must make a vigor save or be frozen. Duration 1 round

Mk 1 Graviton Ammo: +2 damage if target is wounded by attack must make a vigor roll or suffer a -2 to agility based rolls duration 1 round

Mk 1 Phased Plasma Ammo: Ingnores 1 point of Shield Rating -2 to damage

Mk1 Shedder Ammo: +2 damage to organic targets, -2 Ap

Mk 1 Disruptor Ammo: Ignores 1 point of shields +2 damage to synthetic targets

Let me know what you think

Enjoy!

(And keep an eye out for my next major update, hopefully by the end of the summer. Lots of little tweaks - including shields - and a big bestiary of baddies!)

We played Gurps space years ago.
Dont remember the exactly abbreviation, but it was something like APSFDU-rounds. Smile
Let me think Armor piercing, sabbot, Fiinstabilized, Depleted Uranium or something like that.
It was overkill but really funny.
It was only the last attack against the evil robots lair (bent on destruction all fleshy races) where we could use such military hardware.

In regard to the MK 1 AP -

In RL ap ammo actually tends to do less damage as it tends to punch a small through and through hole unlike a regular slug which mushrooms and or fragments and causes larger wound tracks and more extensive damage.

The benefit of AP ammo is that it ignores the outer protections and actually gets to penetrate where a regular slug would flatten against that same protection and do less damage.

Personally I would make it +2 for pistol sized ammo and +3 (or 4) for rifle sized ammo to make it a viable option. As it stands there's no reason to not always have this AP ammo loaded since it both ignores more armour against armored targets and does more damage to unarmored targets.

I don't agree with the AP ammo since it's made not to expand and thus does less damage. I'd give +2 AP and -1 damage

Mk 1 Phased Plasma Ammo, isn't the net effect just -1 to damage (-2 to unshielded). It sounds less effective than normal bullets.

they are designed to bypass phased energy shields. But due to the energy conversion they hit with less force

True of RL, but doesn't need to be the case for futuristic ammo.

Considering that the setting takes place roughly 200 years in the future. We still use ballistic tech though the materials have changed.

Just to get in a quick plug, there's a new ammunition section in the Wellstone City book. Covers stuff like:

    AP Rounds
    Frangible
    Mercury filled rounds
    DPU
    Shredders
    Fletchettes
    the Frag 12 for Shotguns
    White Phosphorous
    Taser rounds
    and a bunch more...
