| I appreciate the quick reply answering some of my questions and thanks for recognizing my frustration. Surly you have to admit that teasing a product to a fan base for three years as well as continuing to be incredibly obtuse regarding information can illicit such a reaction. You did, however, fail to answer the question opening my barrage and the question I most wanted answered. What is the hold up on this project? |

Nobody set out to tease the fan base. The fans asked a question, and I gave my best response at the time, and the conversation progressed. There are good reasons why I'm chronically vague about dates and timing, and this sort of thing is a few of them.
Just to be clear, I didn't fail to tell you what the hold-up is, I did not do so as a matter of policy. If something is held up due to a discrete and temporary condition (customs has it for two to four more weeks, for example), I'll happily tell you. Anything else is pretty much an internal matter not subject to public commentary. We're not really a dirty-laundry-airing outfit around here.
As alluded to before, though, accepting public ire is in my bailiwick. Feel free to send me any you like, though I do prefer it come via private message.
Hell on Earth: Reloaded does continue to work its way through the product pipeline. I have no doubts that it will, indeed, come to exist in all the expected formats, someday. _________________ Joel Kinstle

Honestly, I'm more excited for DLN than HoE:R. _________________ "I had a whole bunch of advice for you but got ninja'd by newForumNewName. I'd just do what he says." -- 77IM

That's a little of a mixed bag, like finding out someone likes at least one of your children. But I'll take it. |

Then I'll be the one to like your other child. As cool as Deadlands: Noir is, the Post-apocalyptic Deadlands is more my cup of cross-genre tea than the Hardboiled Deadlands. _________________ Wild Card Creator: Any PDF. Any Setting. No Extra Cost.

I already like Deadlands: Reloaded. I'm just not terribly excited about Hell on Earth. Post-apocalyptic isn't my favorite theme. But at least it isn't high fantasy, so there's that.
Besides, I like so many Savage Settings already. Don't you think it's a little harsh to say that it's like finding out someone doesn't like one of your nine kids when that person likes six or seven of them already? Nobody likes everything. _________________ "I had a whole bunch of advice for you but got ninja'd by newForumNewName. I'd just do what he says." -- 77IM

The winky smiley is there for a reason: I'm not actually suffering any sort of trauma at all over it. I do appreciate your concern, though. |

Really.
The question arose on May 4. A few pages of discussion later, on October 5, I made the remark you quoted, in part, above.
If I set out to tease someone, you can be certain that it'll happen a lot faster than over five months and eight additional thread posts later. _________________ Joel Kinstle

Can we still heap on some shame to get it done faster? |

Of course. How effective that is is still open to debate, though, but knock yourself out. _________________ Joel Kinstle

It is completely ineffective. _________________ "I had a whole bunch of advice for you but got ninja'd by newForumNewName. I'd just do what he says." -- 77IM

K, enough is enough.
Joel, where do I send pie? For we all know that pie motivates all.

Come on guys,
I'm a loyal (neigh rabid) Savage fanboy and HoE is my all time favorite setting. Every week I log into the website hoping that something ANYTHING will be said about Savage HoE. We have announcements about products for every other setting, and NOW your pushing Deadland:Noir, but there is nothing for a product that, by the accounts I read, should have been ready LAST YEAR. It's not funny any more. _________________ All men dream, but not equally

Agreed. All I can say is when this finally does hit shelfs there had better be little to no errata. It's not like there hasn't been time to proof read. Also while I have been told that Deadlands Noir won't effect the release of HOE Reloaded I fail to see why it wouldn't. |

If it isn't clear how DL Noir wouldn't affect HOE, then allow me explain.
Unless two books are being written, edited, laid out, and getting art from the exact same people at the exact same time, their production doesn't really affect each other. All it takes is one of those elements to be different, time or people, and not a lot, just slighty, and the overlap disappears, where their production does not affect each other.
HOE has had some stumbling blocks, and I know it's frustrating and I'm sorry, but it happens. It's one of the reasons why we avoid announcing release dates.
Again, sorry about the delay, but to be clear, no one is wrong about Deadlands Noir not affecting the release of HOE; they are at different stages of production involving different people. _________________ Clint Black

| What about things like printing cost? I'm sure that you guys can only afford to print so many titles a year. Won't this product line take up some of those resources and by extension effect when and what is released for HOE Reloaded? Also you mentioned that these projects are at different stages of production. Can you elaborate on what those stages are? At what stage did HOE Reloaded become bogged down? |

Chaps,
We've had our shits and giggles beating Pinniacle around the head asking for the update and the long and short of it is that it will come when it comes. We've been vocal and highlighted the fact that there is an intense interest which is good although continued bashing for finicky details will simply sour the project. Also, the more time they need to spend here answering leaves less time to get on with the project itself.
So, take a breath, step back and lets let them crack on with it knowing when it does hit the shelves it will be worth it. Eh?

Thank you for that, Sluggie. We really are doing our best to get it done, but we want it to be the best it can be.
As I've mentioned elsewhere, The Last Sons was done in 2009 and just came out. We're a small company with limited staff resources. Hell on Earth is on a similar schedule.

I guess Joel's post bears repeating, Calabim:

Emphasis mine. Please drop that line of inquiry. _________________ Matthew Cutter
