Greetings.

So I was looking through the GM 25% discount sale at rpgnow.com and saw there are 5 products listed for Fields of Honor?

Fields of Honor
Fields of Honor Rules
Fields of Honor Battleset 1
Fields of Honor Battleset 2
Fields of Honor Terrain Pack 1

What's the difference between Fields of Honor and the Fields of Honor rules? They are different links at rpgnow.com

Also there is a bundle for Fields of Honor Rules, Battleset 1 and Terrain Pack 1 but doesn't include Battleset 2?

Any help?

Hey Norm,

The original Fields of Honor (featuring the British / Zulu cover) is out of print and not up for sale anywhere that I know of. It's the most wargamey (and was the first thing Pinnacle ever did).

The Rev War version is just the Rev War, and has rules for playing the battles with included counters, or doing it as a minis game.

The final FoH for WW2 is an online only version with paper minis for tanks, troops, etc.

All are essentially different rules, btw.

Cheers!

Shane

Thank you Shane!

I'll be picking up the FoH WW2 version today with the 25% GM sale from rpgnow. With the bundle and the battleset 2 I'll have everything to play it for less than $30.

Heya Norm - did you get a chance to play FOH yet? I spent a week printing the flats out and mounting them on heavy cardboard frame shop matte stock... and then I never actually got to play.

*sniff*

I REALLY need to dust it off!

We are playing this month! We have the flat printed and ready to be mounted on wood pieces. I'll let you know how it goes. Smile

Making any of the Cons this year? Perhaps we could play a game??

Sorry about that Normy - I missed this post. Hope you managed to get a chance to play it. I actually dusted off my flats and scanned the rules again. I'm hoping to get my dad over for at least a quickie session sometime in the coming months.

Sadly, I have no Cons on the schedule this year... *sniff* With tuition in the budget and a bun in the oven, I've got my financial flexibility a little stunted at the moment.

I mounted my flats on dense cardboard matting (the stuff that frame shops use for matting and such). I'd love to have done it in wood. Did yours go well?

I'v often wondered about this one. I've got the Rev War one, but never played. My reservation would be printing costs. Is there any chance that somebody could post some pics of the finished product(with Shane's permission, of course)? Is there a map, as well?

Hey tyler - there are some images of the game "in progress" over at boardgamegeek.com

Here is a link - I believe that these were probably printed on cardstock and not mounted. As mentioned above, Norm mounted his on wood and I mounted mine on dense cardboard - so naturally, this might improve appearance.

I pinged my dad the other day with intent to play. Hopefully we'll get time to in the near future.

and regarding a map Tyler, no. There is no formal map per se. Imagine that you have a full blown miniatures table but all the little tanks are flats and all the terrain are flats too. Take a look at the pictures with the link and it'll make sense.

I appreciate the link. I was able to see the images...sort of. I'm on cell phone internet these days on a massive 2" screen! I'm assuming this game isn't Axis and Allies, but more like Memoir 44? I'm barely familiar with the latter. Is the game more small unit battles than an overall theater operation?

absolutely, it is tank to tank, squad to squad, house to house - rather than axis and allies scale. I seem to remember in the rulebook that is can be scaled up to larger unit operations but I don't remember for sure.

Memoir 44 is probably a reasonable comparison in many ways too - it is similar in complexity though I think FoH is probably more versatile and has a bit more depth.

Well, I do love Axis and Allies, but never really playe Memoir. I only played the basic game of Battle Lore, which was said to be similar. Was a little underwhelmed. If I purchase, and print FOH...I want to make sure it's worth it. I want the pieces to be on cardstock(at least), perhaps laminated, and the like. Sounds like it could be expensive, whether printed at home, or the UPS Store.
