|
|
I'm starting up with a new group of players and descided to make the chracter creation a bit easier on them, so I came up with this small excel ark below I though I would share with everyone
There might be mistake and this is only for core fantasy setting, but it should be easy to modify to other settings.
Link to come in the next post since this is my first post |

First off, welcome to the boards!
Second, did you know about the Training Wheels character sheets?
http://www.peginc.com/freebies/SWcore/SWEX_TrainingWheelsCS.pdf
I know you put a lot of work into that spreadsheet, but personally, I'd be afraid this level of "computer assistance" might overwhelm and confuse your players, and turn them off your game before you start.
The Training Wheels sheet has all the math listed on it, as well as explanations of how attack, damage and soak rolls work, and all your combat options listed at the bottom. So it saves the group a lot of rule-book checking during play.
Then again … I'm the guy here with the opinions nobody likes, so don't take my word for it. Hear what the rest of the board has to say. There's a lot of helpful people here with pretty good ideas most of the time.
One thing I like to do personally when I'm trying to speed up character creation for a new group is make up pre-gen characters. I fill in all the "stats" and work out all the math, and then I let them choose their own Edges and Hindrances so they can give the characters their own personalities. Most SW gamers tend to agree it's the Edges and Hindrances that really make your characters shine anyway, not the stats. _________________

I rather like the sheet and the effort that went into creating it! I found it useful in quickly putting together a character/NPC and found the tables easy to modify with houserule Edges and equipment.
Thanks for this little gem! _________________ *******

Thanks for the feedback guys, I just updated the spelling mistake and a skill point calculation.
@Kevin; Most of our players are veteran Gurps, D&D, Warhammer and a few other systems, they are just new to Savage Worlds and a bit lazy - If they where completely new to roleplaying I would agree with you, this would be too much and confusing. |
