My heroes are going to see an old shamanic woman for a dream quest. When they go to see her she'll ask them one of three riddles.
Can you answer the riddles and what do you think they mean?
“A golden treasure with a soft white crown to cure a hot and weary day.”
“A child’s god that brings a smile, though it wears down your a smile from a forest to a tombstone.”
“In gentle rings I drift, a soul of fire and Earth.”

I should have said that this was a fantasy setting. There would be no ice cream.

I'll see if I can't word it better.
How about
Born of Earth, Soul of Fire, releasing pleasure with each breath.
And no, it is not a clay pipe (but if that is the closest my players can get I would accept it).

If we can figure it out perhaps as early as 200 BC, I would think those pansy elves or "I have to eat every 20 minutes or I will die" hobbits would have as well (plus they gots that magic thing going).

Tobacco then?
I was thinking a clay pipe because it's made of Earth, and baked in Fire in a kiln.

For 16 days a year I tell riddles at a local Renaissance Festival. I also write and research riddles. When I see things like this I often have the urge to answer the riddle with another riddle with the same answer.

The thing is, the answer is important. Beer, Candy, Tobacco. If you give her what she wants she'll take you on the dream quest, but only if you figure out what she wants.
I tried looking up riddles by answers but apparently there doesn't seem to be a resource like that.
