| Lord Lance wrote: | Yeah Shadowdragon! As you can see, I highlighted that ability 'cause I'm not convinced by the original writing. So, when I have time and/or cool illuminations, I'll read the document again and make some changes.
Of course I love to get advices from other users, 'cause this is a quite open project.
Finally, I'm trying to "harmonize" the abilities and the writings between the various creatures, 'cause I think there was a lot of minds behind the old document. Where I can, I remove the "custom" created abilities with specific rules (maybe derived from d20 ruling), and I bring back the "standard" SW mechanics.
EDIT: check out the new Oil Beetle ability |
That's looking much better Just one thing though, if the oil doesn't need a Shooting roll to hit then the beetle doesn't really need a Shooting skill. _________________ http://tristansnexus.wordpress.com/ - A gallery of some of the minis I've painted over the years |

And here you are wrong... 'cause the Bestiary is not "just fantasy". You can use this sacred book to get fancy enemies for every setting, in every time period. So, if you are running a modern-era or a sci-fi campaign, you could make a use of Oil Beetles that can wield machineguns, filling with hot lead those incautious main characters!!!
Ok, ok, I'll remove that skill... _________________ "Balance is the key, Trapping is the word." - - Lord Lance

Meeeeen! It's almost finished! Of course I need to repolish the whole thing, however now you'll find a full savaged EX version bestiary, ready to use, in the first post of this topic!
Sidenotes:
- I re-re-designed the demons
- I want to make the abilities around the file even more "consistent" each other.
- I want to introduce some "people" - Soldiers, Merchants etc. (maybe with 2 or 3 "levels" i.e. normal, experienced, master...)
- I hope to create other new creatures for you
- I want to gather some free creatures I find scattered around free adventures, or free conversions (of course, if I get the permission from the authors)
- I'd like to add some flavor stats like "Threat Level" _________________ "Balance is the key, Trapping is the word." - - Lord Lance

| One thing I noticed while reading this involved the templates? Could you use the template idea for creatures such as vampires, ghosts, and lycanthropes? |

Yeah, I think so.
However S.W. is not D&D, so I think it doesn't need so many detailed templates.
Wanna Undead-something? Simply add Undead monster ability, then some "random" weird creepy power.
Wanna Were-Something? Or Vampire-Something? Add Fast Regeneration, Immunity to (x), and a Weakness to (y) that works for your favorite setting...
ehi, ultra modern lovely emo vampires can even stand into the sun light!!!! ;D ;D
Wanna random mob Ghost? Simply add Ethereal.
Wanna indistuctible Ghost that hunt the party all-adventure-long??? Ethereal + Invulnerability + custom/obscure Weakness that has to be found during adventure.
Simple? Yeaaah! S.W. is (thanks Gods)! _________________ "Balance is the key, Trapping is the word." - - Lord Lance

I "upgraded" my Boss template integrating connorsrpg "multiple turns in a round" idea.
Now the Boss is REALLY easy and fast to create. Almost no time to pump-up all the dice 1 step, adding the derivate characteristics without make any additional math, finally almost all the abilities are "passive" and done to simplify the life of the Master (no gang-up, no PPs, no wound modifiers etc.) _________________ "Balance is the key, Trapping is the word." - - Lord Lance

Ehi, I noticed someone made a light PDF version of "my" bestiary and put on savagepedia...
Great work! The love is spreading... _________________ "Balance is the key, Trapping is the word." - - Lord Lance

Nice work!
Any considerations to take when using the latest SW-D rules? |

I'll wait 'till the SWD rules become more "mature". There is A LOT of noise around them, and I'm not so happy of the changes, so I think could be savvy to stand-by 'till a sort of "revised" or "second edition" comes out.
Of course, absolutely personal point of view.
Finally, I think creatures are not interested by the new rules directly, so the bestiary should be fully usable right now with no needs for adjustments. _________________ "Balance is the key, Trapping is the word." - - Lord Lance

I'll back up Lord Lance's last point: SWD has no impact upon critters. I doubt there's more than two entries in the entire Bestiary that need to be revisited because of the rules changes. (I'm fairly sure that there are zero entries that need a visit, but I'm certain there aren't more than two.) _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."

I'm currently making a Deadlands-y primitive survival setting, with dark gods and whatnot. I'm making myself a ton of custom monsters for this setting, so maybe some of the coolest ones could be integrated into your awesome bestiary of glory?
I would truly be honored to be able to contribute to this thing. In my eyes a well-made monster or handy table is a work of art which surpasses anything those ear-cutting guys could make.
Actually, maybe van Gogh would've been an excellent GM...... he could certainly have made his own minis.
Sorry, off topic
Anyways, I hope my beasties are good enough.

How goes the progress? This is a really great bestiary, thank you so much for you work.
I don't know how to use Google Docs. How do I copy this to my PC or my reader? I tried and just get a bunch of files without a visible .exe or setup file. _________________ http://www.armsonline.org/

Click the link to the document.
Look around the edge of the window - you should see a button labelled "File".
Click that button, then select "Download As".
Then you simply choose the format you want to download (probably PDF in this case).
Wait for download to complete.
Enjoy. _________________ "Got a problem? I've got the solution: Rocket Launcher."
