Greetings.
So I updated my blog again today from a game we played last night. The city is about half done but I took some photos after the game just to see how they looked. Check 'em out!

Eventually this city will stand in for all my Savage Pulp games and it's modular so I can change it up every time we play. _________________ Norm "No Relation" Hensley |

What are they made from.
If you put them out as a PDF to print on Card stock you can call it the
"Pulp City" set |

Not directly a propos, but might I say that I like your TMNT conversions. I especially like that you retain the Iron Age feel for them. _________________ Nothing exists but you. Those look awesome! I've been a stickler for trying to find Hot Wheels sets or other sources for "model" buildings, but printed images right on boxes for the buildings seem to get the idea across nicely (and it's probably easier to store them, too).
Nice cars, too! _________________

Thanks for all the comments guys!
As I said on the blog, it's about half way finished. I have a lot of detail pieces and more buildings to make. But you get the idea.
A friend of mine did the images from building fronts we found on the internet. He made them jpegs, I printed them out on peel & stick pages, put them on the craft boxes and Bang! Instant city. Sorta...
The figures are a mix of Copplestone and Foundry? They were not prepainted!
The cars are standard 1:43 scale diecast models that were repainted.
I'm hoping to have it all done by Con season so I can run some games with it at Origins, GenCon and Con on the Cob!! _________________ Norm "No Relation" Hensley |

Hey Norm - do you remember what brand the cars were and where you got them? They are perfect for what I need to run some TAG DTA stuff I'm planning soon. I can't seem to find just what I am looking for... the scales seem to vary making one maker's 1:43 looks like another's 1:50.
Great work again. Sure wish I lived in Cleveland... I hear Cleveland Rocks! _________________ Chris in Atlanta

Hey Chris.
I have bought about about 20 vehicles from the 1920-30s over the last 4-5 years. I'll check the bottom of the cars for manufactures when I get home tonight!

So, how tall are those buildings, then? (Do you have trouble with players reaching over them and/or knocking them over, or do you remove them temporarily to get at spaces behind them?) _________________

The buildings are about 8" tall although I have a couple that will be 16-20" tall for a couple of center pieces. We didn't have any problems with knocking them over and we just picked them up if we needed to move a figure and then set them back.
The back sides are just spray painted black but i've been toying with the idea of putting a "floor plan" on it so if someone goes into the building i can just lay it down and have the outline there already. _________________ Norm "No Relation" Hensley |

Chris,
I have 14 finished cars/trucks. I have 8 still under construction/painting. Several don't have anything on the bottom but the ones that do...
Ertl (made in china) 1930 Pacard Boattail Speedster
Ertl (made in china) 1930 Chevy Truck
Road Signature 1/43 1934 Ford Pickup
Yatmig (made in china) 1932 Cadillac V16
Solido (made in france) Cord L29 1929
Solido (made in france) Ford V8 1936
They are all die cast vehicles that have been disassembled, sprayed flat black and drybrushed up to various shades/colors.
I paid between $5 and $10 for each one although some of them are listing on Ebay for $15+. Of course, then you have to paint them... If you don't paint them I'd recommend a couple of light layers of spray dull coat to take off the shine of the chrome. But give them a lot of time to dry or they will get sticky!
Good luck. And if you get out to Origins, GenCon or Con on the Cob this year you'll probably get to see these up close. _________________ Norm "No Relation" Hensley |
