I think there was a similar topic on this awhile back, but I don't remember the board's consensus and I think its been culled.

One of my players has a Native American character who is a part of "regular" society, but is intrigued by his grandfather's spiritual ways. If the player was to decide to pursue this further as an AB, I think it would be neat to add in SK's Shamanism because of the flavor and because the mechanics are a little different than the other ABs.

However, is there anything I should be aware of so far as balance goes because the mechanics are different? Will different ABs play nice together?

The notable differences are...

Rippers spellcaster are limited by Power Points, but they have offensive spells open to them (bolt, blast, etc) and can cast them in a single action.

The Kane magic allows greater durations, but lacks offensive capabilities and takes longer to invoke. That said, the shaman would have no PP to worry about.

So it's sort of six of one and half a dozen of the other. Each has strengths and weaknesses. They were never designed to work together, but that certainly doesn't mean they can't work together. Smile

Yeah, those were my thoughts on it Wiggy and I wasn't seeing anything inherently unbalancing by including Shamanism, but its always good to get confirmation.
