Hello all!

It looks like it’s that time again to get started on the next issue of Shark Bytes!

In the past we've had some setting-specific and strong theme issues. Savage Worlds is often hailed as being able to tackle any setting. There are certain settings that push those limits by not fitting a neatly defined genre, and I want to make sure they are given their due. Influenced by my interest in old 1950s comics, I call them:

Weird Settings!
Low Life!
Runepunk!
50 Fathoms!

I’m calling out those settings to generate interest, but of course anything’s game. In this case, the weirder the better. I'll be filling in this table as I get submissions so you know what's coming and where we need contributions.

Several things to note.
1) I’d like something for every one of these columns, but that might not be possible. We won’t hold up the issue for just one column!
2) We can always find room for more than one entry in a given column, so if you see that there’s already an article, don’t let that stop you from submitting!

Oh, a deadline for submission? You want a deadline? I would like to have them by January 15 if possible to give people a break over the holiday season.

Hiya!

I like old comics too and grinned when I read your defense of the monniker, "weird". As stated elsewhere, we'll be more than happy to put something together for RunePunk.

Take care,

Sean

Would Doyle's "Lost World" count? Or rather things in that vein?

Either, since I believe the Lost World is in Public Domain at this point, I have no problem naming Professor Challenger.

A lot of Doyle's stuff and some other excelent examples of Vic Sci Fi are on both Gutenburg and Librivox. All of the stuff there is public domain. A lot of strange things were proported and believed by some of those guys.

Yeah and I'll probably lift maps and such when I get such contributions.

I really enjoyed The Lost World, a perfect game setting.

I miss show down.

Back on topic, I have a few item and edge/hindrance ideas for 50 Fathoms if you want. Like the Grael Artilleryman who carries a freaking ship cannon into battle and shoots people. (It's good to have a crew extra follow him to do reloads.)

I have a critter that'd be good for any of these settings. I might get an illo out too, if I can make time.

Still takin' submissions?

Yes I am,

I'm a little bit behind on my original timetable, and I do want to get out the Youth issue I mentioned, so yeah! Send it my way!

Hey all,

I just wanted you all to know it will be a while before I get to this. Just a heads up.

No worries. Could you give us a bit of lead time as to when you need articles/scenarios from us?

Thanks,

Sean
