First off: Hi to everyone! Im new to this forum and new to this game. Savage Jack

The Group Im playing with recently decided to give Necessary Evil a try. Now I went through the Core Rules and the NE Setting (minus the adventures part as Im not mastering it) trying to get a feel for it and building a concept for a character.

I checked the Superpowers and kinda like "Duplicate". There are a few threads about this power and I guess I understand how it works. I then looked on for some more fitting powers and stumbled over Invisibility and Intangibility.

All in all this makes for some nice movement/defense.
But then I realized what combat abilities this creates: According the rules Duplicate lets the hero create a second self with all powers except Duplicate.
Now what if he goes Intangible, uses Duplicate and then lets the Duplicate solidify inside an enemy?
Result: 4 wounds to the Duplicate (which is now dead) and 4 wounds to the person it solidified into (which would end up quite dead now, too)
No attack rolls neccessary no defense rolls allowed. The Hero could create one such Duplicate per round and this Duplicate can solidify in the same round resulting in one dead enemy per round while the Hero is Intangible and quite safe all the time. Costs 10 points and is a starting character.

Sounds quite unnecessary evil to me Twisted Evil

Now my question: Does it work that way? Should it work that way?

Hi Rod,

Welcome to the forums and rules questions thread! On to your question...

Nope, doesn't work. Wink

It falls to the one main liability of Intangibility. An intangible character cannot affect the physical world in any way. Thus, he cannot make a duplicate while intangible as that affects the physical world.

Oh, it does require an attack roll to turn solid inside another character. It's a Fighting roll modified with the Touch attack bonus. Let me also pull the advice from the original post on this...

I'd also make it similar to a Called Shot too. Trying to get the entire body inside someone else would be a lot harder than just trying to get a single hand in the body somewhere. Something like (without the Touch bonus)...

Hand = 0
Arm = -2
Both Arms = -4
Entire Body = -6

Using those modifiers is up to the GM; it's just a recommendation.

Anyway, hope that helps!
