Would you like to see an official on-the-fly magic system created for Savage Worlds?
Yes! I hate pre-packaged spells.

Sure. It would provide more variety.

Yeah, as long as it was balanced, it would be good.

Meh. I don't care either way.

No, too much potential for abuse.

No. It sounds too complicated.

Hi Clint,

I have a question about the cone template and damage. Say I wanted to emulate the burst power from the core book, how would I price the 2d10 damage? Add +1, +2?

For the OPP roll, would i just add an additional +1 as the damge is technically the primary effect?

2d10 and 3d6 are very nearly the same probability-wise. I would consider them interchangeable.

The Agility roll to avoid would pretty much be an inherent part of having the Cone Template and doing damage. It effectively replaces the attack roll other damaging effects would have.

Hmm, here ya go. This is an old file, and they may have been tweaked a bit since then, but not much...

Improvised Magic Rules for Savage Worlds
By Clint Black

These rules were designed to simulate Arcane abilities where the user is only limited by their power and creativity. They could also function for characters whose powers are limited only by a theme or trappings or simply as a basis for creating new Powers.

The rules for trappings in Fantasy Companion + this , are all I need to customize and create powers
This is very good. Thanks
