In reference to Boating, the rulebook (p.14) states that, "They generally know how to handle most common tasks associated with their vessels as well (tying knots, simple engine repair, etc.)." [emphasis mine]
Can we assume that the same holds true of Driving and Piloting and that the Repair skill would only be necessary for major or involved repairs (such as swapping out an engine)? In other words, could a character with Boating d10 and Repair d6 use Boating to make a minor engine repair rather than being forced to use his lower Repair skill?

He could as long as it is something simple. A GM could possibly also allow that Driving or Piloting if he chose (say to replace a sparkplug or the like), but that's his call. _________________ Clint Black
