Let's say someone with Arcane Background (Weird Science) wanted to have a gas gun similar to the one used by the Green Hornet. The power which seems to best mimic the desired effects is Stun. However, it states in the description that it uses a Burst Template, which doesn't really fit a gas gun. More appropriate would be Burst, as it uses a Cone Template. Could these two powers be essentially combined into one device, and if so, how would this affect the available Power Points? _________________ The rabbit is cuddly. Kids like little cuddly sidekicks. Unless you want the full effects of both powers, combining them is unnecessary.
If the power should have the Stun Effect with a Cone Template, then that would simply be tweaking the power to fit the trappings. In this case, I'd say it could be done by simply switching from the Burst Template (usable at range) to the Cone Template (firing directly from the weapon).
Although to be fair, I'd give equal consideration to using the Burst power pretty much as is. A lot of trappings open up when it is understood that "damage causing" powers are not required to be lethal damage causing powers.
A Burst power that does non-lethal damage could certainly fit the trappings of a gas gun. On Extras, it could cause a Shaken (a brief whiff of the gas) or a Wound (fully knocked out), and on Wild Cards it could sleepy disorientation (wound penalties) as well.
Either way, it's really just a matter of the trappings. _________________ Clint Black
