As a late discovered of this excellent setting, I'm still buying the Classic Deadlands books and loving each and everyone of them. I read about Deadlands being published as a Savage Worlds setting and I'm still a bit confused about this.
I understand the classic rules will be replaced by the Savage world rules but what does this mean for the setting? Will new books for Deadlands be published under the new rules or only the core rulebook? Can we see more of the metaplot expanded? New Dime Novels, Sourcebooks, etc., etc.? I want more!!!
The material that is available now will NOT be reprinted under Savage Worlds. The Reloaded books will cover the entre metastory. I can't say for sure if there will be new Deadlands books but I know that Shane has stated more than a few times that once the old books are gone they're gone for good.
I have most of the Deadlands line myself...I'm missing some of the stuff toward the end of the run but it was starting to trail off I think. I'll still run Deadlands under SW next year but I think Shane would like to move past it. IMO.
Trust me, with the amount of material from Classic you'll be running Deadlands for years to come. I know I will...my players are already talking about Reloaded which makes me a happy GM. _________________ I'm not an adversarial GM. I am a facilitator of awesomeness. - Dr Rotwang
Once the PRINT books are gone, they're gone, but eventually everything that's out of print (except for unneccesary stuff like 1st edition Deadlands or GRW) will be available as a PDF. Many significant OOP products like Hucksters & Hexes and Hexarcana are already available in PDF form. _________________ "Any sufficiently analyzed magic is indistinguishable from science!" - Agatha Heterodyne
