Well, I posted a poll on ENworld, to know what RPG do people like best for playing a sci-fi game. Of course, since ENworld is dedicated to d20, d20 games would be favored, but I was nonetheless disappointed that nobody but me mentioned Savage Worlds, while many people know about it there.
So I thought I would make a poll on these forums to know the genre (sci-fi, fantasy, pulp, etc.) people like best with Savage Worlds. |

For the past three years I've been runnning non-stop (pretty much) 10-14 session mini-campaigns in a number of genres/settings. I'd vote for "All of the Above" (but you didn't include it) simply because the reason I play SW is that it easily handles anything I can throw at it and allows me to play whatever happens to strike my fancy at the moment...
I think you'll find that the vast majority of Savages do the same.
I voted 1930s Pulp though...for obvious reasons.

| Yes, "All of the Above" is part of the reason for choosing Savage Worlds over another system. The poll is not very useful without it. (IMHO) |

I too would have voted all the above. _________________ The More I Learn, The Less I Know |

Well, sorry, I didn't think about "all of the genre" option.
Myself I could say that too, since I would like to play/run SW with four settings I like best: Sword & Sorcery homebrew still in progress, Pulp/Cthulhu/Dreamland 1936, Deadland Reloaded, and a sci-fi homebrew of my own I would like to finish. The only thing is, that with all such options, to run a long campaign I would have to choose one of them and stick with it. |

Right now I'm working on a home brew fantasy but I've used it for space opera in the past. It's the only system I'll ever run (I'll play anything, but as for running make mine Savage).
If I could I'd Vote for all the above. |

| I see that much more people prefer fantasy over sci-fi. I am curious as to the reason, and will probably start another thread on the subject... |

Well, the majority (5 people) have said they'd vote for "All of the Above"
That fantasy (and heroic fantasy at that) has a stronger following than Sci-Fi isn't really that surpring, considering that there is a bigger market for fantasy games than Sci-Fi games ever since RPGs got started. _________________ Markus

Fantasy (any style) bores me to no end these days...haven't seen an interesting fantasy setting in years. |

I personally was really engaged by SeanPat's Shaintar, although I'm still waiting for a GM's guide or something along the Plot point lines. I did enjoy the continual advice columns scattered throught the book, they went a long way towards capturing the feel of the setting. _________________ We must fear evil men and deal with them accordingly but what we must truly guard against, what we must fear most…… Is the indifference of good men.

And actually, JB gave Shaintar quite a bit of praise over at RPGnow. He stated fantasy still wasn't his thing, but that it was well done. I also gave it a shining review, as I'm not really a fantasy fan, but I really want to play/run Shaintar. _________________ Go Play! |

Eight! I chose 1930, but I'm thinking, superhero, no wait, sci-fi, no wait...
I also agree with one of the other posts that with one other exception SW is the only system I'll RUN (being willing to play almost anything at least once). |

Nine for all of the above!
I voted Horror as it's closest to Deadlands and Rippers, which I've run most and am currently running respectively. I've also run a campaign using Green Ronin's Blue Rose setting, that oddly enough ended with an adaptation of Evernight, and a short Shadowrun campaign. I'm currently working on a space opera setting using Wiggy's toolkits for assistance. I'm not to the stage of only running SW, but it has become my favorite system to run. |

Iron Dynasty counts as Heroic Fantasy with Asian trappings so I voted for Heroic Fantasy. _________________ "Any sufficiently analyzed magic is indistinguishable from science!" - Agatha Heterodyne

I think most of us would really like to know,
